Anti-Aliasing is much worse in v5.3... This is ridiculous.

Post by PilotRaider14 »

This looks much worse than 5.2...
There's a ton of shimmer. 8xSSAA looks like crap too.
There's also a bug with the Anisotropic Filtering setting.

The quality is just going down update after update, not happy and don't like this at all.

We've been telling you about this AA issue since v5.2 but nobody ever listens:
https://www.prepar3d.com/forum/viewtopi ... 2&t=141801

Please fix it LM.

1080Ti, 10900K, 2560x1440x32 60Hz.
FXAA OFF, 8xSSAA ON:

Those wing edges look like garbage for that setting.

I dont see anything on that tiny pic, sorry ^^

I remember there were problems for me too in early v5 but seems its fixed now. I dont see any difference between 5.2 and 5.3.

I opened your screenshots and I can see the same effect on your aircrafts wing trailing edges...

It's funny how some people can see it and others can't, but I see you have it too.

Taken from your screenshots: That does not look good. Not to blast on you personally, but I need to point out that this isn't normal.

I had a quick look. Looks ok here. Normal flight I am in the VC cockpit, seldom outside.

Same result for you too Martyson... you just don't see it/realize it. lol I can totally see it in your screenshots the AA isn't at the right quality.

The screenshot looks worse than what I seen in P3Dv5.3.

Some time ago didn't you comment about screenshots ... something like you cannot always rely on them?

What I see in P3Dv5.3 (and previous versions) is ok for me with my WIN11 PC and my P3Dv5.3 settings.

Just like the screenshots that Senchay previously posted ... Looks real good to me.

Maybe we didn‘t realize because we don‘t fly our aircrafts from the outside so much… 😉

I see most people are blinde is not possible not to see the shimmering and the AA problems due to the fact that P3d full screen Exclusive Windows mode is Broken in windows since windows 1903 update . Now Mfs fixed the problem some time ago using 3 or 4 diffèrent AA treatments , The problem has been fixed lucky them , why is it so hard for Lm to do this ? P3d 5.3 is a very good version but this shimering and aa problems are not acceptable in 2021 .

lol You see this in you cocpit look outside at the surroung trees , taxi or runways lines at a distance . Its less visible on a 4 k display but on a 1080p monitor you cannot miss it .

This is dependent on what mode youre in, like others have stated. As well what angle you are in and how far away the object is.
I could make 10 pics right now where you dont see any edge at all. At 2SSAA.

What you showed on my pics was present same in the pic from 5.2 or 5.1.

I could easily swap it around and say "it was worse in 5.0 than now" by just choosing other pictures.

Lets try,

5.0

5.3

I dont doubt that maybe something is different. But from what i see, there was a time when it was way worse. Also for me, i made pics in another topic here. But not sure when and what version exactly.

You can clearly see that the elevator has a jagged pattern, this used to not be the case in the past. It was straight. It has a sort of stair-case effect going on.

This is where the AA implementation is not working properly, from a far away distance you can't tell, it almost looks normal.

I just bought a 4K monitor to test out this phenomenon and it's definitely less noticeable on the 4K but if you have eagle eyes you can definitely still notice it slightly. Whether or not it's a P3D or Windows issue has yet to be known.

Glad to see others are beginning to take notice. This is how I noticed the graphical issues since P3D 5.2

Whether or not this is an EA issue or an AA/Windows issue, one thing is certain, it never looked like this before.
