Prepar3d hangs up by switching to Fullscreen

Hi all,

i have a fresh Windows 10 Installation and fresh Prepar3d V3 Installation.
In window mode Prepar3D works fine, but when i switch to fullscreen mode, the screen hangs up, but the sound goes on.
Prepar3d doesn't crash at all, so i don't get any failure-messages from Windows.

I already reinstalled Nvidia Drivers and Prepar3d and also tried older Nvidia Drivers from nvidia Archiv.
Any ideas what the Problem could be?

I have set Fullscreen=true in Prepar3d.cfg and it Starts and Works in Fullscreen.
But now prepar Hangs up when i switch to windowed Mode.
Any ideas?

If you are using the MSI Gaming APP then uninstall it. The program is causing a conflict with DIrectX resulting in the 'screen hang'. MSI are aware of it and are working on a solution.

Also try going into your graphics settings and making your full screen monitor resolutions the same as your desktop resolution. When this is the case, we do not have to change any monitor settings when you switch modes. We only have to re-size and re-style the windows which should be almost instant.

Hate to say this but having the same issue...
Full screen is true, Matching resolution to monitor....
Seem to recall that I had no problem a week or so ago....
Essentially, to get some nice pics, I switch to full screen mode... the screen goes black.., flickers a bit and stays black with no menu access.
If I try to switch back, nothing it blinks but nothing....
As someone else mentioned... I can hear the aircraft and even switch views to spot and verify by sound of exterior versus interior...
I'd post an image but I think you get the idea.... :)
Hope a solution comes up...

Which version of P3D?
What changed with your setup since a week ago ?
What are your system specs?

Is P3D running ok in Windowed mode?

I am also having the same Problem. Except with mine I dont get black screen it is the same view just froze. I also can say I know it isn't p3d freezing as I can still hear it running in my headset. I hope there is a fix to this soon as I am going bald prematurely.

Had this problem on my last flight.

after flying ~7 in windowed mode in background minimized i couldn't get back to fullscreen. sim was still working.

Nvidia 361.75/ W7 64bit, latest p3dv3.1 version

Try un-checking "Black-out Desktop" and/or "Auto fill main view", and as I suggest before, double check that your full screen resolutions for all monitors match your desktop resolution.

Also, in the Prepar3D.cfg, check over the following entries to make sure there isn't bad data in them. Sometimes swapping out monitors/GPUs or changing monitor locations can get these into a bad state. I've included config settings entries from a 2-GPU/3-monitor system below.

These two set the default position and size of the application window in windowed mode and full screen mode:

These are the fullscreen settings from the check boxes i mentioned and the current full screen state of the app last time it was run:

Hello All,

I have the same problem... After I minimize the window and want to back to full screen I got a freezed window. I have reinstalled my windows and P3D but the problem is still exist.

I do not have any idea...

I haven't had similiar problems earlier despite of I flew more than 100 hours with the same configuration. The problem started last week. I tried almost everything for example I changed the videocard driver to the previous one and so on...

Any idea?

The problem has been solved....

I use 3 monitors. The solution was:

1. removed 2 monitors of 3
2. restart pc
3. p3d cfg file reset
4. start p3d and config
5. shutdown p3d
6. shutdown pc and plug in the monitors again
7. start windows and p3d

Now everything is fine.

I have an Asus ROG MAXIMUS VIII HERO. I found that the realtek audio drivers that go with this board interfered with the sim when switching between fullscreen and windowed or vice versa. When switching each time, the video would freeze, but the audio still changed normally when "looking" around or adjusting the throttle etc. - so the sim wouldn't fully die, but the picture was frozen and unrecoverable. Immediately after uninstalling the realtek driver and a restart - never saw the problem again.

And yes audio will still work.
