Stutter When Flying Around The Addon Sceneries

Post by Jeffrey10419 »

Hi All,

Since I updated my P3DV4 to 4.5 version my P3D becomes stutter. when I fly around the addon sceneries( Pacsim RCTP and RKSI). My FPS is around 40-60 when I'm not moving the aircraft, however, when I am speeding up the FPS starts dropping to 20-30 then bounce back. ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BdwcVlHyGnI) here is the video. This only happens when I fly around the addon sceneries. My sim looks perfectly fine when I fly around the default sceneries.
I had tried to use DDU to uninstall my driver, removed the three flies, set my FPS to 24 or 30, reinstall P3D, and complete reinstall my computer. These all didn't work out.

PC specs:
i7-4790K @4.00GHz
16G RAM
1070 8G graphic card

Thanks in advance,
Jeffrey

Overclock the CPU to above 4.5 GHz.

Then apply these modifications as suitable for your system:

Hi, Jorgen

Thank you for your reply, but the way you provided seem doesn't work out. My sim is still facing stutter when I'm flying around the addon scenery.

you do realize you stated that it only happens with add on scenery.... it may be an addon issue not P3D....

Some addon scenery has better performance than others, but I have those PacSim products and don't have a problem. However, long ago I realized frame rate was not important and that smooth animation was in fact the goal. My frame rate is locked in P3D to 24 fps and I get excellent performance with most (not all) of my addon scenery.

Dan is absolutely right - there's no need to chase frame rates, since your eyes cannot see more than 25-30 FPS anyway. FPS chasing is for kid's games like Grand Theft Auto anyway.

Do as Dan says, limit the frame rate - this is certainly where you can easily experiment - and go for the smoothness, as in REAL LIFE, after all, this is what we are simulating.

I made the experience, if you have a CPU with 8 cores, use an affinitymask of e.g. 127, to use only 6 cores for the sim and let other programs run on the remaining cores. I still have some short scenery loading stutters but it's much better now and the other time i have a very fluent Sim locked at 30 fps. I could however also go down to 20 fps if necessary.

Make sure to have the addon sceneries excluded from virus scan!
