P3D CTD Bugs

Post by pilot7897 »

Just switched from V2 to V3, but I have encountered some bugs/CTDs.
1) I experience a CTD when I open P3D and then switch to another application(internet) while P3D loads in the background.
2) I also experience CTDs when I navigate the menu system in the simulator.
Other than these bugs, V3 is great!... I get much better performance.

Most likely these issues are already known and will be fixed in the next update, but if they aren't well... here.

If anyone has any short term fixes that will be greatly appreciated.

I have not seen the problems you report.

What is your OS?

That is what I use also.

I very seldom do that when flying but have done it to get a chart. No problem tho'.
Maybe someone who does a lot of internet work while loading / flying P3D could add more info.

#2
I have seen it reported in the forum. Forget if it was for P3Dv3 or how long ago.
Try a search and see if it pops up.

Did you hear LM was working on fixes for these items?

I have used P3D for around 4 hrs now and the first one may just be a fluke, but I am still getting random CTDs for some reason.

PC Specs:
Windows 7 64bit
GTX 770 4GB
16 GB RAM
Intel i7

No I have not heard any news about LM fixing these bugs. I am just saying that I hope a hot fix comes out soon to solve the stability issues.

Random CTD's may be a bad install. I doubt there will be any fixes as it is not a common problem. Check what else you have running. Check your video drivers, etc.

I tried reinstalling P3D... No luck. It still seems that using the menus in the simulator cause the issue. (ATC, Options, Vehicle Selection, etc)

Maybe look in the Windows event viewer .. "Name of Module" causing the crash?

The log will show many days of history .. you will see the red errors ...

Did each of your crashes have the exact same log ..
same name for faulting module causing the problem?

Each crash generates an error log with info.

Great News!

I just updated to V3.1, and it seems to have fixed the problem. I was not able to make the sim crash by repeatedly clicking on the menu bar at the top of the screen. With this issue fixed(hopefully... If not I'll be back) I hope do my first flight tomorrow.

Thanks for the support/advice! Greatly appreciated!

Damn it!... Just as I think the issue was fixed... Nope! ughhhhh...

As a response to Adam, I have:

-PMDG 737 9/8/7/600
-PMDG 777-200
-Active Sky Next
-REX + Soft Clouds
-WOAI Aircraft
-Latin VFR KMIA & KSAN
-FlightBeam KDEN
-FlyTampa TNCM Complete
-FSDT KIAH
-Majestic Dash 8
-FSUIPC

It is now probably an add-on, but I going to have to play with them tomorrow to try to figure out which one it might be. I have a feeling in might be the PMDG aircraft.

...Oh... I am still getting the same errors as I posted above. The event viewer says the module is unknown.
