Helicopter Autopilot / Stabilization

Post by scamoail »

Hello Guys , i am in process of tweaking helicopter autopilot in p3d v5 . with "default_bank_mode" and "default_pitch_mode" i am able to put helicopter in stability mode for roll and pitch. The response of helicopter in roll and pitch can be tweaked using available autopilot variables in aircraft.cfg file "Autopilot" section. However there is no default yaw mode . As soon as autopilot is switched on the responses in roll and pitch are good , however the aircraft cannot be yawed using pedals input. No hover turns can be executed while autopilot is "on" . Moreover torque induced yaw cannot be simulated which otherwise is simulated when autopilot logic is turned off.
Is there a way to switch off autopilot logic in yaw mode or somehow we can yaw using pedals while autopilot is switched "on"
Any help in this regard will be highly apricated .

In your Prepar3D.cfg, do you have a value set for "yaw_damper_gain"? For example...

[autopilot]
yaw_damper_gain=1.000000

This should enable stable pedal turns with the AP on. You may need to increase or decrease the value depending on your model.
