Imagery based scenery blended with Default

Post by NormanLGibson »

I have produced scenery previously for en-route flying and share a technique for 15m imagery which has been produced by TerraColor https://www.terracolor.net/
I have left a "hole" around the aircraft at LOD13, 15m Imagery at LOD11 and a blend between the two at LOD 12.
This technique gives a higher resolution at points of departure and arrival, and "real terrain at higher altitudes.
Here is a video that I have put together using one of Terracolor's sample patches, San Francisco. The default Landclass scenery around San Francisco is very good and hardly noticable as against the imagery.

Here is an older video that I made over the Northern Territory of Australia. This time over ORBX AU2. ORBX colors and Landclass blend nicely with the imagery.

The attached older screenshot shows the imagery/blend when used with a good Landclass scenery, ORBX AU2 in this instance.
An earlier version of Prepar3d, though, maybe v5 or v4.
AU2 is near the aircraft whilst the iamgery is in the distance. I cannot remember if there is a blend between in the following two screenshots.

I am liking the lighting in v6. It suits this type of scenery.
Below is South Australia coastal.
