V6 - some issues i have noted

Post by eiketre »

Hi.

The new atmospheric model creates some stunning good views. The clouds are very nice.

I am using a RTX3090 and three 85” monitors, set 30hz, configured with viewgroups (Aprox 200dg). Using Vsync and tripple buffering.
Here are some issues I found with my system:

• To be able to see precipitation on my side views I must have singlepass on. (Viewgroup)
• Dynamic cloud lightning has a massive FPS impact when entering and flying inside clouds.
• SSAO has also a massive FPS impact.
• TAA makes the front view very blurry, but not side views.
• Bright sun reflection on wet ground even with thick overcast clouds and buildings in front of the sun.
• A lot of wrong elevation in the mesh around freshwater/lakes and rivers. It is lifted up. (Tested southern Norway)
• At high cruise level it is obvious that the clouds are drawn in a circle below the aircraft. U can see a clear sky and terrain all around the horizon even with overcast 8/8 weather.

I hope some of the issues above can be looked at :-)

What aircraft are you flying?

For testing i only used a f16. Normally ProSim B38M

Hi

To support:
Here are two pictures from ENTC (Dep. North) that show the spikes in the terrain. Notice that they all have water on top.
I took the pictures with my phone, so the quality is not good.

I can reproduce the issue with precipitation effects and view groups and will make a ticket to investigate. If cloud shadows are enabled, you should get reduced sun light when in the shadow of clouds. The dampening is scaled a bit to avoid cloud shadows making things too dark. That might be why the specular highlight is still visible. Either that or the sun angle has it below the cloud layer since the draw distance is clamped and the cloud deck won't extent and curve down to reach the horizon as it would if the distance were unlimited.

Hi

Thanks for looking at the items. Regarding the sunlight I did a new test. ENGM at 21 local time. Heavy snow with cloud base at 10ft. I also placed the aircraft behind a building.
I turned all sliders to maximum, but I did not see any change in the sunlight reflection.
Attached picture shows my settings and result. I also deleted all shaders before I did the test.

Good morning,
here we are in Bergamo (Italy) - LIME - and there are elevation problems. As you can see from the image.
Thanks for a next update

Paolo

the cloud distance can be managed with the cloud draw distance slider, having it maxed out will send them out to the horizon depending on the altitude you are at.

Hi.

I have the slider at maximum, 110mi. If you have an overcast layer just go to 30.000ft and you will see the issue.

Thanks Paolo, looks like an airport had a bad elevation. We'll have this fixed in an update along with other elevation issues.

Thanks,
Brad

Hi

I just installed Global Mesh 2024.
All my reported issues regarding default mesh is fixed with this product installed.
