VR Single Screen Display

Hi there,
I’ve just switched from oculus to a HP reverb G2 and it’s great but I have just a small issue. I use the screen display to show others what I’m seeing and since changing to the Reverb and using steam VR, it has black edges around it instead of a full screen display like I had with oculus. Is there any way to get the full flatscreen display back on P3D while using steam VR.
Note: third party solutions like Steam’s Display VR Screen window aren’t really preferable as it adds an extra step to setting it up for each flight.
