Post by jetpilot1980 »

Hello,

I keep getting a Kernelbase.dll crash on P3d V4.5HF3 it happens after the sim has 100% loaded, the sim freezes then CTDs.

So far I have tried the following:

1. Check windows updates and ensuring computer is current
2. Restarting PC
3. Repair install of P3d
4. Running the tweaking.com windows repair tool

I keep getting the same error and information messages:

Try the two steps outlined by Liza.Z early in this thread:

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/win ... 7c2dd50ce8

In other threads dealing with this issue you will be encouraged to download kernelbase.dll from other sites - do NOT, repeat DO NOT do that. You may open yourself up to malware that way.

OK... So I did what you suggested... But first a couple of bits of background info:

1. I am running Win 10 Pro 64 bit os version 21H2 19044.1387 Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.3920.0

2. I have Kernelbase.dll files in both windows\system32 and windows\SysWOW64

3. In the system32\en-us folder there is also a kernelbase.dll.mui file

Going back to the steps:

"Step 1: You can try reregistering kernelbase.dll and check.
a. Click Start and type cmd in start search. Right click on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator.
b. Type "regsvr32 KERNELBASE.dll" without the quotes and Press Enter.
c. Restart your computer and check."

I got an odd result the result was an error message in a popup window that said the following:

"RegSvr32

The module "kernelbase.dll" was loaded but the entry-point DllRegisterServer was not found.

Make sure that "Kernelbase.dll" is a valid Dll or OCX file and then try again. "

Step 2 doing the SFC /Scannow

That went fine as usual and got the Verification 100% complete "Windows resource protection did not find any integrity violations"

So what would you suggest I do from here? Thanks!

This thread:

is about that exact issue.

Unfortunately, this thread does not seem to solve my issue; for that matter did not seem to solve the original poster's issue as I see the last reply line says:

"Problem is still going on ;/. Looking forward for more help... Becouse I really would like to record new videos without worring that I won't be able to montage it... ;/"

Any other ideas? Thanks

This is an odd one.... I looked around for solutions on the web but they are very mixed!

One I did find suggested updating your .NET Framework, and let me add a bit to that one:

First of all, search the web for:

.NET Framework Redistributable

You should find several from Microsoft. Download and install them all - all of them - both the x64 and x86 versions. Did I say ALL the versions? ;-)

When you have done that, go into Windows Update, but don't run it yet. Instead, go under Update/Advanced options and make sure that the switch "Receive updates for other Microsoft products" is set to On. Now run Windows Update, as many times as required.

Thanks for the follow up... At the risk of sounding too clueless... Can you be more specific on the .net framework redist? So I do have .net installed and I know it has been updating as I saw it update this week when I ran the Windows update for this month... I tried to run a couple of the redists that I could find and the installers would give me an error message stating I already had this on my computer. In terms of having the " "Receive updates for other Microsoft products" I checked that and it was already set to "on". Thanks

Go here:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet ... developers

and grab ALL the packages you see, and install them.

As you have seen, they will not install when you have them already, a good sign. Also a good sign is that Windows Update said what it did, seems it is set correctly.

We're not entirely out of options yet!

But now I have to ask you how you are for disk space on your C: drive.

I myself had this error, and the urctbase.dll crash also, and in desperation I installed first Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 and then also Visual Studio 2019, and that took care of it (at least I have not had these errors since then). Both of these are free downloads from Microsoft, but they take up space... and since then we also now have VS 2022, but this does not contain any .NET components, only C++.

If you can go down that road, then just run Update again after you're done.

@ jetpilot1980 ,

Have you received a notification from Microsoft when checking for Windows Updates that says your PC is eligible for a free WIN11 update?

Have you received notification from Microsoft that "upgrading" to Windows 11 will solve the issue?

How is Microsoft Visual Studio 2005, Visual Studio 2019 or VS 2022 used to solve the issue Kernelbase.dll CTD P3dv4.5HF3?

I seen this information (for developers):
MS Visual Studio / debug

They solved the issue for me, as I actually said in an earlier post, which you chose to:

1. Ignore, or

2. Not read

On second thoughts, maybe your previous post should be spam-flagged as an advertisement for another product or website....

Jorgen

BTW: I am still waiting for an explanation on how a so-called upgrade to Windows 11 is supposed to solve the issue we have here?

Hi Jorgen,

Sorry for the delayed response... It's Thanksgiving here in the in the states, so I am spending some family time. I will give the visual C installs a try and get back to you... In terms of my c: drive it is a 4TB HDD and is less than half full... Regarding Win11 since it is so new and I remember the initial nightmares of Win10 I decided to wait a little while before I go down that road... Thanks
