Same type of error for me as well - new install (rebuilt my PC last week - prior to that with version 2.1 it worked OK):

Well, I guess we're the only ones that care!

I just did the patch to 2.2 - not the full install.

Latest drivers and windows update did not fix the problem.

There is not much else I can think to do.

If LM does not notice this in a few days, I will bring it to their attention.

Let me know if you learn anything.

I haven't tried to troubleshoot this yet - however when I do and I get any positive results I'll share them with you.

I updated visual studies to 2012 and my .net is 4.5 - still no luck.

May try to update .net to 4.5.1 (latest), but LM says only 4.0 is required.

I had a similar issue. In order to fix it, I had to completely uninstall and reinstall P3D. For the best results, I recommend uninstalling from the new v2.2 full (10GB) installer rather than windows' programs and features. Be sure to follow LM's instructions at the bottom of the FAQ page after removal. http://www.prepar3d.com/frequently-asked-questions/

Addons (effects, gauges, simobject, etc) should be copied out after uninstall, but before deleting the folder per LM instructions.

The process took about an hour (excluding the download) but worked well for me.

I hope it doesn't come to that :(

Thanks for the info!

I removed P3D and re-installed 2.2 using the full version.

The problem went away.

Lesson learned.

We have identified an issue with patching and WPFExtensions.dll. It will likely cause a crash when starting SimDirector from a patched version. This will be fixed in the next release.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

I get a very consistent crash when I use the "Go to Airport" option from the SimDirection menu-ribbon.
