"You may need to run the 5.3HF2 client.msi installer rather than the setup executable".

Same if you want to install content and/or scenery, run the respective msi only.

I don't have any real problems with AIG on 5.4, except that it sometimes stutters.

But can you still download V5.3 HF2 from LM?

One thing you can do to avoid the stutters is to, where possible, compile the AIG flight plans with AIFP instead of the AIG Manager.

That is possible for most of them, the few that I cannot compile with AIFP I leave alone.

It was available for me. All v5 downloads should be available.

Occasional stuttering is unavoidable. I get it around 4nm out of EGLL for a couple of seconds. Something is being loaded but impossible to know what. The sim soon returns to 30. If it's when in busy areas check your settings.

Don't consider it a downgrade. Just a version that doesn't give issues.

The stutters that Ray mention here are unavoidable, when going into an area of complex scenery or photoscenery.

To minimize these as much as possible, look into overclocking the CPU, having everything on SSDs (even having P3D itself and the scenery on different SSDs), and looking into the Advanced Configuration page. And not necessarily in this order.

Of course, stutters are inevitable in Sim.
Settings that are too high also cause all these jerks.
When I fly with the F35 I have significantly more jerks than with the 737. Because the F35 flies very fast and my computer can't calculate fast enough.
but I felt more stuttering in V5.4 than in V5.3 HF2.
Still, I don't want to complain,,, I love P3D... even if it stutters sometimes :)

After having flown several flights with different aircraft (Fslabs, PMDG, other) I haven't faced the freezing anymore with p3dv5.3.

So, this seems to be solved.

However, one, what caused the change? ... and I think we never get an answer... I was flying a year or so with p3dv5.4.
Two, I hope I don't forget not to update in a year or so again to p3dv5.n>3... LoL.

Andre, that's good to hear. It's a pity LM can't divulge what changes they made to the flight planning side that have impacted on some traffic BGLs causing these problems.

That would be no problems with P3D5.4 while using AIG, for a year or so, correct?

Also, on your previous test with the default P3D5.4 flight, default aircraft and AIG did you have freezing?

Martyson, there are some BGLs causing the problem. I’ve flown a route one day without issue and on another day at a different time had the freeze.

That points to a flight active on one day but not on another. It can only be an AIG BGL.

So has anyone asked AIG / Kaiii3 to look into this on their end? Or posted in their forums about this problem? If so what's the thread as I use AIG as well and sometimes turn off TC and their other products to prevent crashing... Wouldn't mind following further on this topic...

I did. I even pointed to a suspect BGL but nothing came of it. Seems they’d rather people move to AIGFP files.

My reasons for not using the AIG-format bgl files are very much the same as Ray's.

I dislike having a file format that I cannot open with the most popular AI flight plan tool around, AIFP (RIP, Don Grovestine) so I can edit the contents. Now that this issue has been discovered, I will not use those files at all.

But I will stress that this is my personal opinion of the AIG bgl file format. The new format is probably very useful for people new to AI traffic, and for people who like the AIG Manager's way of installing models, repaints and flight plans in one fell swoop.

And, again personally, I cannot use the AIG Manager, because of the sheer amount of scenery and flight plans I have on my system. It installs easily enough, but its initial run to set itself up takes longer than overnight undisturbed, and sorry, I cannot wait for that.

I can only hope that AIG in the future will publish their flight plans also in the "old" text format, so they can be compiled with AIFP, and that their models and repaints also will be made available to flight plan dinosaurs like for instance me.

Yes, you can even download the whole package for v5.3 HF2 (not just the client installer, but everything - the installers and the cab files for client, content and scenery) in the form of a 30 GB zip file.
