VRS Tacpack for V6

Post by brettt777 »

I am wondering if anyone has tried the new VRS Tacpack and FA-18E in P3D V6?

Hi brettt777 ,

I have not updated VRS Tacpack and FA-18E because it is only for OLD P3D 6.0.34.31011.

So you're saying that the P3D V6 updates have already out-updated VRS and Tacpack? If I get the latest version of P3D and the latest version of Tacpack, they aren't compatible?

That's correct. Currently, the 1.7.0.0 TacPack only supports up to P3D v6 HF4. A new build that supports HF6 should be going into beta test this week.

Would the new VRS build testing be for P3D6 Patch5 or the new Patch6?

Yeah, I just got a post at VRS that said they will be testing it this week so I will wait a few days and see what happens.
That being said, I am wondering if all the time and $$$ are worth it. I mean, I literally have three different versions of P3D/TP on my PC right now (V3 has some cool planes in it that don't work in V4/5, and most of the Milviz jets don't seem to work in V5, with the exception of the T-38C). Anyway, is the latest version of P3D/TP really that much better that it's worth spending another $90-100 on yet another install?
I am also curious if FSUIPC V6 will be compatible with the new P3D, or do I need to upgrade THAT as well?

If you have FSUIPC v. 6.2.0, then you're good there.

Thanks for confirming.
With the 2023 year end holidays would you say first quarter 2024 for release?

It should be earlier than that. I have been testing it and haven't run into any issues. If none of the other beta testers find any serious issues, you could see it by next week.

And just to be clear, it will work with HF4 and HF6. It won't work with HF5.

Thanks for the additional information.

I will need a new VRS Maintenance and TacPack Upgrade from P3D5, correct?

Note:
I am on P3D6 Personal 6.0.36.31031 (HF6).

There are a number of options. If you currently have a license for P3Dv5, there is an upgrade option. If you go that route the TacPack will no longer work in v5. If you want to run both v5 and v6, a new license is required.

Mike,

Ok, thanks again for the follow up.

I want to also keep P3D5 so I will need VRS Maintenance for P3D6 and new full TacPack product/purchase for P3D6.

Mike,

I read the link you provided.

I currently have the new P3D5.4.9.28482.
TacPack worked on the older P3D5 version but not the new version.

So, looks like I only need new VRS Maintenance purchase for it, correct?

Correct. If you are staying on P3D v5, and you currently already have a license for that, then all you need is active maintenance to upgrade to the new 1.7.0.1 installers.
