For use in P3D V5 RTX 2070 Super or 2080 TI?

Hi Everyone, I am planning on upgrading one of my GTX 790 cards for either the RTX 2070 Super or the RTX 2080 TI.

The new card will be used for the outside view, via a1080P projector. The RTX 2070 Super seems to be the best bang for the buck. I do not need 100 + fps. I am not an gamer and the computer this card will be in is strictly used for a simulator cockpit.

However, my quandary is with the VRAM amount. The RTX 2080TI has 3 Gb more VRAM. However, it is about twice as much as the RTX 2070. I am having a hard time justifying that price difference emotionally. I can afford the more expensive card, but is it worth the difference? Will the three extra GBs or VRAM be that important in V5?

Also, while my computer is still strong it isn't cutting edge. Can the CPU handle the RTX 2080TI?

I am asking for thoughts and advice before I purchase. My computer specs are listed below. Also, the second card GTX 970 is used to run two touch screen monitors that have the instruments and GTN Complete through detached views.

To Answer your question on the 2080Ti I can't see why your CPU wouldn't handly it the actual Performance jump between yours and the current 9th Gen i7 9700 is minimal. As far as the VRAM goes I'm just as confused I have 6.6gb showing as max with 2080 has 8Gb :(

Also at this stage the RTX3000 series arn't far away think we will hear something on them in the next few days so might be worth holding out to see how they turn out. if anything a price drop in the 2080ti potentially will be around the corner if the 3000 series arn't that good

I have a six-PC networked simulator with a variety of Nvidia cards, from an RTX 2080 all the way down to a GTX 1080. Five of them are supporting a single 4K display in a 180-degree 'wraparound' fashion. Even running with visual settings almost maxed and the new 'advanced environmentals' enabled (which are beautiful, btw), I'm easily locking at 30 FPS on all of my external visual displays. If I switch to 'unlimited' I see just shy of 60 FPS on all of the 'scenery' views. As you note, there is no purpose to super-high frame rates for P3D -- it doesn't improve the immersion factor in any material way. In addition, even the older cards don't seem to be challenged from a VRAM perspective.

One of the cards, my most recent purchase, is a RTX 2070 Super. It has the most VRAM of any of my cards (8GB, I think). I'm not even close to the memory limit on that card.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions and advise. I went with the 2070 Super and I am very satisfied. I set the two main screens, outside and instrument panel, to the 2070. The Elo touch screen, which is often showing the Flighi1 GTN series. and the FMC VGI screen are running off the 970 card.

Running with ORBX recommended slider settings over the True Earth UK I was running in the 6500 GB range according to the Tech Power GPS monitor software.
