Summed up some TrueSky issues

Post by MPO910 »

Hi guys,

following issues occur when using TrueSky/Enhanced Atmo on:

- Autogen and Trees are visible through the clouds
- Rain is visible inside the cockpit (only default planes tested - here F22 and F16)
- Shimmering Clouds on "all kind of edges" from Buildings , Trees and further Sim Objects like Airport Vehicles
- Shifting from Medium to High cloud settings have a enourmous FPS impact. Way more as from low to medium and from High to Ultra.
- Dawn and Dusk colorization and lighting is not done well. This is not a bug, but a immersion killing effect.
Testcase to see what I mean:
- Start flight at default airport with flat terrain surrounding
- Open Time Preview Setting via Menu
- Tick the slider everytime just on notch slowly to darken and you will see the lighting gets darker, lighter, darker and so on.....Colors look awful
Same behaviour at dawn and dusk.

Overall a nice experience to me. Especially using VR and having no rotating clouds. But the implementation could and should be "updated" frequently with better behaviour as the potential is there!

Thanks to you all and stay well

Regards Marcus

Hello,

Thanks for the report.

Most of these issues are currently known and we are looking into a fix.

Regarding the performance impact from Medium to High, Low/Medium use 512 texture resolution for the clouds, while High/Ultra use 1024 texture resolution.

Hello Kaya,

thanks for your replay.

Actually there is another issue with TrUesky.

I did already post it here in the Support Section too. It has to do with the clouds uppon to the horizon. (With and without VR very visible and weird looking). There is a whole Thread on AVSIM going on about this one. PLease take a look into it. This is very immersion killing and does not behave nice in P3D V5

Thanks Marcus
