Hi, Jorgen.
Unfortunately (for me) I can't change my processor I9-10940X (already paid for) so everything will be based on it. Hope that I can find a way to OVC to @ 4.00GHz (have a Corsair watercooler + 5 fans, 1 front + 4 lateral).

The first thing you want to do then is to update the BIOS on your new motherboard, check the motherboard manual to see how that's done. The manual also might have something about overclocking, if not then check the motherboard manufacturer's website to see if there's anything there.

Jorgen, your help is terrific and I'm very very grateful.
MB & processor didn't arrive yet (I live in Brazil) so will have to wait.
Anyway your answer makes me feel a little better although I run a multitask pc even flying P3D so this I9-10940X will help somehow.

If your PC , CPU or GPU is under warranty you may want to verify if the warranty is voided by user overclocking.

Hi,
Thank you for all your answer. I'm still looking forward to change my CPU but It's very difficult to make a choice. Do you think if I take Intel Core i5-7600K (3.8 GHz) I will get better perfomance like 24 to 30 fps with RTX 2060 SUPER? Because these days with my AMD RYZEN 5 1600 I'm running at 10 to 15 fps on ground and 20 fps maximum during cruise, it's unplayable.
Kind regards, Clément

You should certainly get better performance, but there is no guarantee as to how much you will get.

Now, are you going to buy a whole new rig, or what is your situation? If you're buying a new rig, you need to prioritize the CPU more than you have - meaning backing down from the RTX 2060 Super and spending the money on a more powerful CPU instead.

First thank you for your answer, I'm just planning to change CPU and motherboard because my GPU is very good. Btw I don't understand why I get so bad performance in P3D V4 with medium to low settings while I'm running Read dead redemption 2 and other game in Ultra settings with 60fps.
Thank you

The difference is that P3D is incredibly more complex than the games you mention, and demands much more processor power.

When you get the new CPU and motherboard, one of the first things you should do is to update the BIOS on the motherboard to the latest level from the manufacturer, that in itself can give you a performance increase, and at least on an Asus motherboard it is fairly simple. Just be absolutely sure that power does not go out during the update.

Yeah, with the game you mention I'm going to guess that if dropped in the center of it's world I could walk a straight line and within minutes hit a glass wall. With P3d, I could choose to be dropped off in NY City and walk a straight to San Francisco- I think it might take about a year or so but it is possible, all in real time and on convincing terrain with everything the 4 seasons can throw at me.

So in short:
A "game" is a small glass box, is heavy on eye candy <---video card), with just enough physics not to ruin it
P3d simulates the planet, is heavy on physics <---cpu), with just enough eye candy not to ruin it

Dear Sir,

Your "So in short" puts it in a nutshell! A very good explanation.

Thanks man!

BTW, if the formality of addressing me by Sir or FunkNnasty doesn't really suit you then by all means call me Ken. :-)

After I check the price I found out that if I change my CPU and my motherboard it will overpass my budget so do you think if I upgrade my Ryzen 5 1600 3.2 ghz to an AMD Ryzen 5 3600X with 3.8 Ghz so the newest generation it will work with P3D like an intel core i5 7600k? Any Ryzen user with P3D with a feedback? Thank you

Hi everybody,
I need a final check, I'm able to take an Intel I5 9600k but I'm also able to take a Ryzen 3600x.
I was about to buy the Intel one when I saw that : https://www.cpubenchmark.net/singleThread.html
If I remember correctly Prepar3d is a lot on the single thread performance and the new AMD cpu are exceeding the Intel CPU .
Could you confirm me that ?
