P3d V4.4 VSync on flickering.

Post by American398 »

Hey guys, just wondering what can be going on here? When I enabe VSync i get the flashing. When its off there is no flashing. I like to have Vsync on because its a bit smoother. Any fixes? please view the video - https://youtu.be/xQtlD-bdrX0

That is the exact opposite to what I experienced. Flashing appears to happen when the graphics card is outputting more frames than your monitor can handle.

What are your frame rates with and without VSync enabled? And what refresh rate is your monitor?

Do you have triple buffering ticked? If you don’t get flickering with VSync off then leave it off. Maybe the 1070 isn’t compatible with VSync.

yep, Vsync is on, triple buffering is checked, target frame rate is 120. Now if i set the target frame rate to unlimited thats when i get the flickering. But i feel the target frame rate suppresses frames when you can achieve higher frames. for example. sitting on the ground with flytampa KTPA and PMDG 737, in the VC i can get 30-40 with target frame rate locked at 120. now if i turn it off I can get 50-60 fps. ive done a couple flights with the FPS locked and its not bad but like i said, I feel it suppresses FPS.

I suspect the refresh rate of your monitor is causing this. Is it 120Hz? If you can select another then try 60Hz or even 30Hz. Your frame rates will be limited to the refresh rate but 30Hz does give very smooth performance.

Why are you worried about frame rates?
They are only numbers.
Surely if you get a smooth flight at 30 or even 25 fps, you should be happy?
