P3D V5 Install on win 7 64bit hangs on app launch

Postby sleightflight » Wed Apr 15, 2020 1:32 pm

Hi all,
Ive just installed V5 on my win 7 64 bit pc, along side my V4.5, on clicking the icon to start P3D v5 it builds the data bases etc then just hangs without ever getting to the main options screen, I tried deleting generated files and starting it again and I have the exact same thing.
I cant update to win 10 as it doesnt like something on my motherboard drivers even though my older pc updated no problem.

Specifically, v. 5 requires DX12, which you cannot install on Windows 7.

Windows 10 is the required operating system.

OK, thanks for the reply. I have removed it from my pc and requested a refund. Thanks.
On a side note, on one of the P3d Facebook forums someone swears he has it working on his win 7 pc.

If that is really true, then that would mean he has found a way to install DX12 in Win 7.

That he needs to publish.

But since DX12 is part of the Windows Updates, then I think he is not REALLY truthful here.....

Hello Guys,

My P3Dv5 works on Windows 7 64bit, installation process didn’t show any warning messages refusing to install on Win7.
I was unable to start P3D after installation, and than I’ve noticed folder DX12forWin7 in P3D root folder, I copied content from that folder, and my P3D started successfully, but....I experience crashes of graphic card, which are described here in other threads, and those crashes and not specific to Win7 only, majority of users experiencing same crashes use Win 10.

With best regards,

Rado

So would you mind telling us where you copied those flies 'TO'...
cause we'd like to get it working on W7 too...

You could study this link for testing:

https://microsoft.github.io/DirectX-Spe ... nWin7.html

Did not try it myself yet but am interested in results.
