P3Dv5 Installation on New Computer: Video Card Questions

Post by Freccia »

Hi, I have a new computer, more powerful than the previous one.

CPU: from i5 6600 to i9-10900k
RAM memory: from 16 GB 3200 Mhz to 32 Gb 3600 MHz
New motherboard: Asus Prima Z490-A

In my old computer I was using P3Dv4.5 (latest version) with a GeForce GTX 1050Ti GPU.

Unfortunately I am still waiting to receive my RTX 3080 and therefore I will have to use my previous video card in the meantime.

I would like to know if with the new configuration of my computer and my old video card I can use P3Dv5.

Thank you.

Yes, you certainly can.

Just remember this: when you get the new card, and you are ready to swap cards, deactivate P3D before you start to swap. After you are done the swapping and have updated the driver for the card, reactivate P3D again.

Good morning Jorgen, thank you for your reply.

What does "deactivate P3D" mean, how can I do it?

Thank you.

I always do it by uninstalling the client to deactivate and then reinstalling it to activate.
