Controls drop out in multiplayer session

Postby skelsey » Tue Aug 02, 2016 3:59 pm

Hello all,

Another frustrating afternoon!

In addition to the time acceleration issues described below, we are now experiencing control dropouts at the commencement of a multiplayer session.

All USB flight controls (for both users) stop responding shortly after commencing the session, and in the last case immediately upon a client connecting to share the aircraft. Prepar3d continues to respond to keyboard and mouse commands, however.

I have RegisterDevicesOnce=True in the [CONTROLS] section of Prepar3d.cfg as I understand this can mitigate against this.

We did try to see if the controls were available in the P3D controls menu, but the host selecting Options --> Settings resulted in a black screen, followed by a whirling circle and P3D no longer responding. Around the same time the client machine crashed as well.

Both running P3D v3.3.5.17625 on Windows 10 x64. I conducted many similar sessions on v3.2 with no issues. Likewise I have had no problems in single player mode.

Here's the Event Log for the crash on the client machine:

I am also having this issue with the controls dropping out in multiplayer.
I did full restore, installed and tested mods one by one as each one was successful.
however i did not test the Aerosoft A321, asca2016, and Free airmap.
I suspected those were the culprit and uninstalled them and repaired p3d, none of which worked.
If anybody has a solution let me know, this is very aggravating

On and off I have also been experiecing this issue....

I have found that sometimes controls are only lost for one party. Never been able to identify a particular trigger condition and certainly doesn't happen every flight.

As mentiond, controls via keyboard always continue to work but it's very hard to fly a keyboard!

Hi All,

In Prepar3D v3.4 there is the option to switch between RAW Input and DirectInput. If you go to Settings - Controls, and click the Other tab, you'll see you can swap between two Input Methods. Raw Input is enabled by default but switching to DirectInput might work better with certain legacy controllers.

Hi Adam

Thanks - just updated to 3.4 so will take a look at this option and report back in a few weeks.
