I just purchased the Academic license of v1.3. I have previously tested version 1.2 with a developers license, and both had the same problem. I'm not sure if the problem is in Prepar3d or if it's something else acting up, but Prepar3d is the ONLY software that produces this crash. X-Plane 10 and FSX does not produce any crash like this.

The problem is that whenever I enter the settings menu, and for instance, select controllers and axes and want to assign a new axis, a dialog is supposed to pop up and ask me what axis to assign.. Whenever a dialog box like this is supposed to pop up, the video driver crashes. And it keeps on crashing and recovering until I can get rid of the dialog box. Once I am able to hit "cancel" to close it, the video driver recovers successfully and everything is back to normal..

Any ideas on what might be the issue here?

My specs:

AMD Phenom II X6 1100T

AMD/ATI Radeon HD5770 1GB

1920x1080 monitor.

Windows 7 SP1 64bit

P3D v 1.3.3708

Am I the only one who is experiencing this? Is there anyone else with the same graphic card that runs P3D well without issues?

Seems like I was able to fix it.. I reinstalled the all of catalyst and the video drivers, and it seems to have fixed the problem. I do wonder what caused it though, was it corrupt drivers, or some kind of configuration setting that made P3D crash? If theres a setting that introduces these crashes, it would be great to know about it.. :)

I'm running an ATI Radeon HD 6870 (1 gig) with the same problem. I've tried older drivers (and Catalyst), and the newest ones, with no luck. I just bought a new 7850 (2 gig ) to install tomorrow. Let you know if that fixes it.

Windows 7- 64 bit, Intel I-5 3.4gig, Asus P8P67 mobo, 16 gb Vengence DDR3 ram... Prepar 3D 1.3

8-) To update the new Radeon 7850 (and new drivers for it) fixed the problem.
