[RESOLVED] Can't assign any button into my P3D5 options

Post by cirurgiao »

Had no trouble at all with P3Dv4/v5 before but then something bad happened. Uninstalled all sceneries in both, uninstalled both, reinstalled only P3Dv5 in H drive
Run P3D with default aircraft & scenery then went to Options, tried to change Lights All from L to Ctrl+Shift+L which is assigned by default to another action and when I click ok to confirm change Options window closes and return to simulator. Tried Ctrl+Shift+L and it doesn't work so I go to Options and verified that L is still assigned to Lights All .
Tried to take a printscreen of Options window to show what happens but it turns black and returns to main window.
Something is very wrong here...
Need help.
Tks

Need to verify which P3D5 version number P3Dv5 xxxyyy you have installed.
Start P3Dv5 and select Help (About P3D) from the top menu to get the full version number.

You mentioned:
"Can't assign any button into my P3D5 options" (topic title).
Are you assigning some "button" or just changing the keyboard keys for some functions?

“Tried to take a printscreen of Options window to show what happens but it turns black and returns to main window.”
I am unsure how you are doing that.

To take a screenshot while P3D is running use the P3D default keyboard "V" key.
The screenshot will be in the default Pictures folder e.g.:
C:\Users\YourName\Pictures\Prepar3D v5 Files

Hi again, Vaughan.
Solved it, or at least it seems so.
Before making any harsh decision I uninstalled Carenado C421. There was a QW folder in P3Dv5 root. In Control Panel/uninstall there was no QW so I deleted this folder, selected Money Bravo and tried again to open Options window. It worked!!!

You are welcome.

In your first post you mentioned:
“reinstalled only P3Dv5 in H drive”
No mention of Add-ons (Carenado C421 / QW folder in P3Dv5 root).

Best to do all P3D v5 new install testing in a default P3D v5 setup without any Add-ons.

If problems later come up with Add-ons then contact the Add-on developer to verify it is compatible with the new P3Dv5 version.
