I have recently installed v4 on a new computer, with no issues. I then cleanly installed AS16, but the software is not recognized by the sim. Is there another step or interface needed? Thanks for your feedback.

Usually this means that Simconnect is not working. AS will usually offer to install it for you if needed.
Does your AS ( at the top left) say "connected".

Just realised you said you have installed AS16. This the wrong version for P3Dv4 look on their website.
