Menus sometimes not showing

I just upgraded from P3Dv4.5 to 5.3. Sometimes when I try to open a selection from one of the top drop down menus such as World/Scenery Library or Options/addons the P3D window goes dark and the item doesn't open. If I click on the window I hear windows ding and I have to hit escape to get the Flight Simulator to reappear. Also, normally, when I hit escape it gives me the option to exit the scenario or exit the simulation but instead the window goes dark and hitting escape again brings it back. Sometimes it works normally at first but once this starts I have to exit the simulator using ctrl-break.

I may have discovered whats causing the problem but I have no idea how to fix it. I'm running Prosim737v3 software and two instances of sioc, one for p&p modules and the other for Mastercard inputs/outputs. For some reason I have to restart the 2nd instance of sioc after Prosim starts, otherwise my switches don't work. When I restart it that 2nd time the menus in P3Dv5 aren't visible. I don't know if the issue is with Prosim or sioc. I guess I'll contact both unless someone else on this forum has dealt with this issue.

Opencockpits support says it can't be sioc because it only communicates with Prosim.

I still haven't been able to find whats causing this issue. It's frustrating, I can't change airports, view the map, exit the scenario or even exit the program without using ctrl-c. Then I have to restart my computer and hope the menus work next time.

It seems that the menus are opening but they are opening behind the main scenario window so are not visible. Now, when I start P3D its bypassing the startup screen and going directly into the flight. I know there is a setting in the P3D config to open in the startup screen but I can't remember what its called.

Unfortunately, since its going straight into the flight, I can't see the Optons Menu when a flight is loaded. I can change it in the config though. I'm wondering if I reinstall the client might that fix this problem.?

In the windows control panel/programs and functionality, you will find an option to repair the client using right click.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the client and that seems to have fixed the problem

I spoke too soon. I started P3D today and the same problems resurfaced. I sure don't want to go through a complete reinstall but I'm out of options unless someone else has an idea.
