SSD Caching and P3d

Post by jetpilot1980 »

So thought I might share this... I recently decided to give SSD caching a go and bought a Timetec 1TB SATA SSD and a copy of Primocache (for some reason StoreMI the freeware that ASUS / AMD included would not recognize the SSD). While I realize this will not help anyone who is already running P3d off a SSD, but for those like myself who use high speed HDDs as our primary means of storage; this made a huge difference on my system performance as well as my P3d performance; massive jump in frame rates and suddenly all the AI traffic I have installed doesn't seem to make P3d grumpy anymore. All in all to set this up the cost was right around $110 (cost of SSD + Primocache) but well worth it! Thought I might share this result in case anyone else out there was looking for a relatively cheap way to get a great increase in P3d performance (assuming your system supports this)...
