CTD when changing vehikle

Post by Foxtrot Whiskey »

Good day everybody,
so far i have used the current version of P3DV4.5 together with the A320 and A321 from FSLabs on drive d:.
Since the loading times were extremely long, i completely uninstalled the entire software and reinstalled it on an external SSD.
P3D starts normally with the default scenery, but when changing aircraft to A320 the program crashes to desktop.
Has anyone an idea of the reasons why?
I have to admit that i am not familiar with the labyrinth of the operating system and i hope for successful tips for a layperson.

Best regards
Frank

This exception code from your error reports:

Exception code: 0xc0000005

means that a memory access violation happened.

This is when "something" tries to write to an area of RAM where it does not have access rights. Usually this "something" is an incompatible or badly programmed add-on, but there is no real indication of what the exact cause is.

No reinstall!!!

This is not a problem with the basic P3D, but "something else". At least, that has been my experience in the past.

What add-ons do you have installed?

Hi Frank, quite a number you have there.

I recall seeing postings that there are some updates for the FSLab aircraft, have you applied those?

Since the error occurs with AWC.exe, then have a look at this article:

http://windowsbulletin.com/files/exe/io ... al/awc-exe

Hi Jorgan,
after reading the article, i just moved Acer.Amundsen.awc.exe to another location to see what happened. P3D crashes again after changing aircraft, but the error is no longer displayed in the event viewer. The following error message now appears:
"Name of the faulty application: Prepar3D.exe, version 4.5.14.34698, time stamp: 0x5e94b5c2"
"Faulting module name: C: \ WINDOWS \ System32 \ ucrtbase.dll"

Can you do anything with it?

@ Foxtrot Whiskey ,

Is your default flight the P3D aircraft F-22 at the default airport KVPS?
If so.
After loading the default P3D flight can you change to other default P3D aircraft without a problem?

Frank, I did a search for:

ucrtbase.dll

and a number of articles came up, discussing this. Based on what I read, the first thing I would do would be a malware scan, then check if there were any C++ Redistributables I didn't have, and finally a Windows Update. But please read the articles found in the search (some even in German) to see if there is something looking like your situation.

Hi Vaughan,
I can answer both questions with yes. I did malware scan. Also run a Windows repair program (Reimage).

@ Foxtrot Whiskey ,
Frank.

Ok, I also have FSlabs A320 but I do not use an external drive in my setup.

If all is ok except when switching to an FSlabs aircraft I would do a post on the FSlabs support forum to see if any other pilots have had the same problem.

Edit:
Is you graphics card an AMD ? ... long shot but I have seen reported problems with AMD and FSlabs A320.
