DXGI_ERROR_ACCESS_DENIED P3Dv5 Error Message

Post by steve5031 »

I am running P3Dv5 and get the following error message:

"This device (NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER) stopped working for the following reason:
DXGI_ERROR_ACCESS_DENIED. Do you want to exit Prepar3D? Click Yes to exit, No to disable rendering to this device, or Cancel to keep using this device (Prepar3D may crash)."

The typical scenario is:
1. Start a flight. In my case takeoff from KSEA. Using ORBX TE Washington scenery
2. End Scenario
3. Try to start a new flight
4. Error occurs

I also have P3Dv4 and have never had this problem.

My specs are:
P3Dv5 version 5.1.12.26829
WIN10 Home 20H2 OS Build 19042.867
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 Super. Driver Version 27.21.14.6089.

Is there a patch or workaround to fix this annoying problem?

Thanks,
Steve

This is what I do:

1. Start a flight. In my case takeoff from KDTW Using ORBX Base
2. End Scenario

3. Reboot PC

4. Start P3D

The latest nVidia driver is v. 461.72, do you have that one?

Search the forums for your error message:

DXGI_ERROR_ACCESS_DENIED

and you'll see this is a well-known issue that is being worked upon.

Thanks everyone for your responses. For now I'll continue to run P3Dv4 as restarting P3Dv5 to start a new scenario is a pain.

Can someone from the LM P3D technical support team provide any update on that status of resolving this problem.

Cheers,
Steve

Steve,

All we know is that per a statement from Beau Hollis sometime ago that this is being worked upon.

I guess we'll have to wait for the next hotfix or new version, L-M staff does not comment on such matters nor on a time frame for the next hotfix or version release.

Thanks for the update Jorgen. I guess I'll just wait for a message from LM when a hotfix is available.

For example, when changing aircraft with inflight, temporarily turning off the on-screen display support of RivaTunerStatisticsServer will eliminate the error. (RTSS ver7.3.1)

Incidentally, if RTSS on-screen display support is ON, starting in window mode will also result in an error in v5.
