[RESOLVED] Unable to perform ILS landing at Kord 27R
[RESOLVED] Unable to perform ILS landing at Kord 27R
Hi Folks
I'm wondering what's wrong that I am unable to perform an ILS landing at KORD RWY 27R.
I have attempted to fly KDTW-KORD in 3 aircraft, PMDG 737, PMDG 747-8 and Quality Wings 787. The ILS frequency is 111.75, and App Course is set to 273deg.
The flights were on Auto Pilot. On the 747 and the 787, neither the LOC or GS indicators showed up on the PFD.
On the 737, the Localizer needle did move toward the centre, but when I pressed the LOC button, it did not illuminate, and the Localiser could then of course not be captured.
Altitude was as per the Approach Chart, 9000' at VINYY all the way to 2200' at Sibly.
I have Navigraph AIRAC 1909 for the aircraft listed, and for the 747 and 787 flights was flying with PROATCX, and selected STAR, TRANS and Runway as per the flight plan
I can remember, before changing over to P3D v4, flying into KORD using FSX, but don't recall any issue with ILS landing.
I have now just flown a circuit on the 737 to attempt an ILS landing on RWY 09L, but the same problems were encountered.
Hope someone can help.
Thanks
Andy

Re: Unable to perform ILS landing at Kord 27R
I think that you will find that 27R has a frequency of 110.50 in P3D. IRL it is 111.75. Hence PMDG doesn't find the ILS.
Possibly you need to run Makerwys to get the "correct" frequencies into your ATC program.
( I stand to be corrected on this).

Re: Unable to perform ILS landing at Kord 27R
Thank you very much for your reply Ian.
Success! I made a quick circuit in the PMDG 737, and made an ILS 27R landing using frequency 110.50.
I had in fact previous ran MakeRwys 4.8.4.0.with regards to the ATC program
Anyway, many thanks for your help.
Kind regards
Andy

Re: Unable to perform ILS landing at Kord 27R
Won't hurt to update. 4.8.7.2 is the latest.
Re: Unable to perform ILS landing at Kord 27R
Oh, my thanks to you again. Hadn't realised the 4.8.7.2 update
Re: Unable to perform ILS landing at Kord 27R
None of the FMS equipped PMDG products use any of the files created by the MakeRnwys tool. The FMS navdata comes from downloads from either Navigraph or Aerosoft. The MakeRnwys tool does create a file used by RAAS, which is not included with the NGX.
Bottom line, if you are using default scenery then things have probably changed. Even some payware scenery can get behind because things do change. New runways for example, most often even a runway number change due to magnetic deviation can throw you off. The radios on the PMDG aircraft use the navaids that are in the scenery, which may be different from the navdata used by the FMS. When in doubt you can always check the ILS info on the P3D Map.

Re: Unable to perform ILS landing at Kord 27R
Thank you for your reply Dan.
I use ORBX scenery and Navigraph AIRAC Cycle, which I update each month.
I have not encountered this issue with P3D before, but I will check the ILS info in future

Also, you can use the P3D "Map" view to check all the rwy/ILS data.

Re: Unable to perform ILS landing at Kord 27R
Yes thank you, I have noted the ILS frequencies from the "Map" view.
I wonder why the P3D frequencies differ from the real world.

Thank you. Very interesting.
Without doubt P3D v4 is a huge improvement from FXS and Stream IMO.
