VR SETTINGS

I am having issues with VR in Prepar3d. I have been using X-Plane 11 with VR with no real issues, but decided to see what the hype is about with Prepar3d.

Firstly, Although I hit the "reset position" option in the VR menu, I always seem to be sitting too far back in the plane, with some planes near enough behind the pilots seat"

Secondly, Non-VR, I can run Prepar3d with everything up full wack. In VR mode it struggles, even with settings turned right down.

If anyone can give me advice on the above, that would be awesome!

Hello,

You can adjust the eyepoint with the controls listed here:
https://www.prepar3d.com/SDKv4/prepar3d ... mentPanels

VR is more performance intensive. You will have to experiment with settings. You can also adjust the headset display mode to see which yields the best results:

Either put the eyepoint on a coolie hat to move forward/backward, up/down or if you want to have if a bit better adjusted right from the start, you can edit the aircraft.cfg directly.

Most of the planes are not designed for VR, but for VC /TrackIR use. The seating position is off for VR.

And, if you have a playseat airforce, there is a physical way to slide the seat forward by pulling on the handle (hysically) ;)

@MartinM,
I can't seem to make more than one "move" left/right/forward/aft control setting on my POV hat - this is a Thrustmaster HOTAS.X - the Key Assignments Options page just says Hat Switch 1 when I push any of the 8 positions of the HAT switch. Several other flight sims (DCS, AFS2) let me make individual assignments. Any trick for P3D?

Thanks

Dave

@OP,
Make sure you try Single Pass mode for VR. I use Oculus Tray Tool with Super Sampling at 1.4 and ASW mode at 45fps.

Graphics Settings:
1) FXAA off, AA = 2xSSAA
2) Low water
3) HDR = OFF, Shadow quality = OFF Sorry!

@OP (neilos118),

The other major issue in VR is to choose the highest framerate sceneries that you have. I have one from Paulo Ricardo for the city of Rio that he really optimized for performance even with many many buildings and several airports - beautiful. If you run without VR, the frame rate wil be above 70 fps so that when you fly with VR which is stereo with a wide FOV, you can maintain 45 fps.
