V4.3 VR

Post by BG2518 »

LM

Well done on the VR front !!!

Stereo works and better performance is very noticable.

Did you by any chance give us access to the system menus via the VR headset to change various flight and system options?

Silly me if I am missing this important functionality that I was hoping for in V4.3, am I?

Cheers.

Hello,

Thanks, we’re glad you’re liking it!

As of now, the only windows you can open in VR are Instrument Panels.

We are continually working on improvements to VR and appreciate the feedback.

"As of now, the only windows you can open in VR are Instrument Panels."

Does that include the kneeboard?

I haven't tried it yet, just started downloading and it's going to be a while. But from what I've read so far, thank you so much for the VR improvements, they are very much appreciated.

Are the single-pass rendering artifacts fixed?

Thanks

At the moment, it is just the Instrument Panels.

Sorry if that seemed like the stupidest question ever asked, but I always thought that the kneeboard was treated as a panel. Oh well, maybe next update then.

Not a stupid question at all. The kneeboard is more of a UI window and has HTML capabilities, so it doesn't function like a panel.

A couple things about v4.3 VR that I've quickly noticed

1) Single pass works great for me and any photoreal ground textures look correct but they look like a little off stereo-wise in Stereo mode (the left and right eye get incompatible images). Since I like Single Pass - I don't care

2) Boat wakes were supposed to get fixed in 4.3 - they are still wrong in Single Pass. I care because I am flying the VRS FA-18E in for landings on the Javier Fernandez model of the Nimitz carrier. BTW, the VRS TacPack and FA-18E which are great need an update for v4.3 and I made sure to report that on their forum.

Anybody else see any VR SinglePass issues? Have the complex airport problems really been fixed? I don't see any faster performance on my system - holding right at 45 fps for medium complexity scenery. I am running at SuperSampling 1.4 and locked in ASW with Oculus Tray Tool.

I find it annoying that it launches SteamVR although Oculus home is up.

Hello,

Could you provide a screenshot? Can you reproduce either of these issues without addons installed?

Have you gone through the general debugging steps?

Hello,

This occurs because P3D checks which interfaces it should present as options in the VR menu. In 4.3, you can use SteamVR with your Oculus if you prefer, or you can use Oculus Home.

Well, I have selected Oculus and it keeps launching SteamVR. I don't want SteamVR to be opened upon launch of P3D. That uses up resources for nothing.
