Dan,

"I was at gate and aircraft 'shutdown.' I was testing light splash during the day and when it failed to appear"

Maybe it had actually failed at that point in time.

How do you test this light splash ? .. I have never tried it.

Hi Marty, I agree my single observation is inconclusive; however, the P3D application was running up until I selected the Menu item to set time to Dusk. At that point, the display went black which is normal when loading new day of time texture but it remained black then Windows message box advising P3D had quit working.

The PMDG aircraft have some daytime light splash if it's overcast for example. I had it departing Houston but after landing at KLAX it was gone. The test is easy, turn on landing lights and see if there's any rendering at all of the lights on the ground.

Hi Dan,

Just wanted to report that I flew the 777 for 20 hours on a vanilla install of P3D v3 last week, the left DU went blank when I selected it and that was all, no crash, freeze or anything. I have installed P3D outside the default location and placed it in its own folder on my OS drive. I will continue to test the 777 as I install other addons.

I did use the L DU popup on departure then stowed it for remainder of session. Flight KIAH-KLAX was about 3 hr enroute, and CTD happened after I was at gate and aircraft 'shutdown.' I was testing light splash during the day and when it failed to appear I changed the time to Dusk using P3D menu and on that the application crashed before rendering the scene.

For now it appears that 3.1 did not fix the lighting problem or the problem with the gauge in a 2D window popup, although much more use is warranted before stating flat out that the symptoms are unchanged from v3.0

I am very interested in the reported difference with HT off. I tried a session with HT off and did not see a difference in VAS loading so it went back on. Performance hit using P3D with HT off for me was nil, so it is worth a try.

with due respect.i just want to ask you for HT.did u by anyhow left the af settings in p3d config.bcoz if u have that u won't see the gain.Rob posted a video about it i am sure u saw it earlier.
& also maybe it's dependent on cpu.my cpu is 6 core & rob is 8 core.maybe that made a difference.as i don't know what ur cpu is.

& to all.i would like everyone to report about this specific CTD in the following format.
OS: Windows 8.1 pro 64 bit
p3d installation: non default folder on a separate single ssd partition
add on installed(major):
pmdg 777,777 immersion,orbx ftx global,opus fsi,gsx,ivap,fly tampa scenery,t2g scenery,armi project scenery,sdg scenery,uk 2000 scenery,aerosoft scenery,taburet night 3d
.net & vc file installed screenshot along with simconnect:

HT: disabled
any changes to p3d cfg: FFTF=0.01

Thanks for the explanation .. I will give it a look at.

So, you do not know if the last crash was caused by selecting the top menu item (clicking on the menu) or the result of the software executing the actual switching to Dusk to see (test) the light splash?

Theses tests get a little tick'ie figuring out what cause the problem..

Hi Guys

I am currently conducting a flight from TAPA to EGKK and am descending. Current FL140 in the PMDG 777. I decided to reinstall P3D yesterday and reinstall 3.1. I have ASN and FS Realtime running and am flying the 777-300ER. I only install things that are compatible with 3.0/3.1 P3D so I have no traffic installed yet! I believe in leaving things to the developer without trying to "hack" things to get it to work.

Anyway I have clicked numerous times all PFDs left right, FMC Lower DU all of it and no crash! This was also the case with me in 3.0.

I have an i5 4670, Nvidia 650, 8gb ram and windows 10

Just letting you know I don't have this issue.

Blessings

Exactly, more testing is necessary before any conclusions can be drawn.

On a hopeful note, I did see the daylight light splash when loading a daytime scenario and I never saw that in v3.0 so there's a couple of maybes that have to be looked at.

Just finished a KLAX-KATL trip using the left DU (PFD) popup, no crash. Lights worked but as expected because session was loaded during darkness, so not a test of the light splash. Did try the menu item to change time at end of session to see if last CTD would occur again and glad to report it did not.

As a side note, I couldn't get the second session very far without problems with GSX. I downloaded the standalone addon manager from FSDT and installed it to solve that problem. Testing continues.

I am thinking that I should start a new thread if the problem with MSVCR120 access violations continue in v3.1,

I still have the same Problems with pmdg 777 and 737ngx.

It seems that the Problem comes from the Job Scheduler. With a eight Core Processor I set the Multicore Support with field AffinityMask and value 14 (4 Cores). This field is to find under the section JOBSCHEDULER in the configuration File.

After that I don't have any Problems with CTD Events.

just got the MSVCR120.dll Fatal CTD using the PMDG T7

I do use the AffinityMask "tweak" to force all 4 cores on my 4790k, how could that be causing it though? just doesn't seem practical.

Any who, I will do the same flight without the AM tweak in my CFG and report back. Here is a screenshot.

also after doing that.try disabling HT in bios & no AM in cfg.

Any news?
I did a full reinstall of Prepar3Dv3.1, all addons including the PMDG 777 and the error didn't go away... About 6 to 7 hours into the longhaul I am getting a crash to desktop because of this.

What I wanted to add is that regarding the statement that the error cannot be reproduced I have to disagree. At least on my system I can count on it to surface. I don't know if it is 3 or 5 hours into the flight but it will happen. Flight goes from one addon airport to the other (FlyTampa LOWW to FSDreamteam KJFK v2).

My system:
Intel core i7 4790k
16GB RAM
GeForce GTX 980
P3D on SSD

Addons:
FS Global 2010 FTX Edition
FTX Global
FTX Global Vector
FTX OpenLC Europe
REX 4 Texture Direct
Opus FSI
PrecipitFX
P3D Migration Tool (disabled at the time of the flight)
PMDG 777
FlyTampa Vienna
FSDreamteam KJFK v2
FSDreamteam GSX
