New Install on New Windows and Crashes

Post by bandjoey »

New v5 installed today. New Windows 10 about a month ago. Loaded the default splash screen fighter with no changes to airport, day, weather, etc. This happened with v3...couldn't fix the same problem and got a refund. Now with a new windows clean install (although a month ago) thought I'd try again. I fly FSX all the time with no problem at all The only addon is Just Flight Arrow III and never a problem with FSX.

Before the sim loaded, it immediately crashed the computer to black and to a complete restart. Is my computer just not good enough? Someone with computer knowledge, please look and see if there's a fix. Thanks!

@ bandjoey ,

Can you verify your Graphic card and its memory?

Event Viewer :

To try to isolate what is causing the CTD

Look in the Windows Event Viewer and get the
Faulting Module Name
example:

@ bandjoey ,

When you start P3D can you get to the first scenario screen without an error (before making any selections)?

You initially mentioned:
"New v5 installed today. "

Did you mean an Update from P3Dv5.1 to P3Dv5.2?

If so, did you only install the Client and not a full P3Dv5.2 install?

I downloaded the entire new install of v5.2.18.27565.zip

Yes i can get to the first screen before selecting or changing anything. I can select an aircraft, time and day, airport and then when that loads it reboots the computer. After the first crash, I loaded the military jet and accepted all the standard selections with no changes...hit 'go' and the computer rebooted.

ok after a few hundred google searches, here's one from 2020. Exactly the same issue I'm having. They finally decide it's a defective PSU.

https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/co ... /284113/18

tomorrow I'll go through all the cable connections first and my question is there a test to first check out the PSU? It's a Thermaltake smart 750w installed a year ago.
