V4 and v5 loading times question

Postby xmitr » Wed Sep 16, 2020 5:33 am

I'm using V3 of P3d along with quite a bit of Orbx scenery, and with my new computer hardware I find the loading times quite acceptable, under a minute from when I start the program.

When I upgrade to version 4 or version 5 what can I expect for loading times in the stock setup (ie. no Orbx)?

Asus TUF Gaming x570 Plus Wifi motherboard
AMD Ryzen 7 3800X processor
32 G DDR4-3200 Memory
Corsair M600 1TB M2 drive
Old video cards, GTX 670 and HD6850 (soon to be upgraded)

I cannot comment on loading speeds compared to v. 3, since I never had v. 3.

But - for me there is a HUGE difference between v. 4 and v. 5, because I have quite a lot of AI installed, over 7,700 flight plane. With v. 4 (v. 4.5 HF3, to be exact, but also in versions before from v. 4.3) it takes over an hour to load. In v. 5, with the very same AI setup, 4 minutes. Now, there's a difference and a half....
