Hoist/Sling

Post by ssaulss01 »

Hello,

I'm try to work on a SAR scenario, I'm facing some problem with the hoist; searching on the forum I've found some topics without answers:
Sling/Hoist cable moving erratically -> https://www.prepar3d.com/forum/viewtopi ... ng#p181556
HOIST / SLING CABLE WITH HOOK -> https://www.prepar3d.com/forum/viewtopi ... 9&t=121925
Helicopter Hoise Cable -> https://www.prepar3d.com/forum/viewtopi ... st#p215208

I would like to:
1) modify the sling cable, as it is it's not so well visible. How could it be done (which files are involved?) ?
2) do some action on the scenario at the moment the load is being picked up, should I use conditional logic? what variables are involved to trigger the picked up event?

Thank you for the help

Hi, unfortunately I wouldn't hold your breath on this one. I never received a response and I know its been an issue for some time.

Don't get me wrong, I think LM do a great job and I'm still with P3Dv5, at least until MSFS has helicopters, but I would have thought this isnt something major to fix but its never been done.

Hoist and sling operations are some of the unique missions only helicopters can do.
These are some of the major capabilities which seperate helicopters from fixed winged missions.
For helicopter simulation purposes further improvement of the P3d sling and hoist system is really needed in my opinion.
Each helicopter pilot needs to train it...In the past it was hard to train it in a realstic way with flightsim software and conventional monitor setups.
With the rise of VR there are new possibilities which add immersion and training sceneraios for developping helicopter flying skills with the help of simulation software.

I also find it difficult dealing with the actual hoist and sling system even in VR.
Imagine a SAR mission over sea waters. Picking up your diver in the water is actually extremly difficult as the cable is dark colored and is simply not visibly over dark water colors in P3d.
Also the erratically cable movements make precise pickups of hoist and sling objects impossible.

Please LM take a look on these.....for us helosim enthusiasts it would add great immersion to helosimming!
