Model won't appear in catalog

Postby Gumble » Mon Dec 09, 2019 8:44 pm

Hi there,

I followed the steps to create a model in 3ds max and imported into p3d v4 using the p3d SDK plugin support for 3ds max. As a result, I now have an (enabled) add-on for a simple textured cube which now appears in the default location at Seattle International. However, when I go to search for this model in sim director using its friendly-name the search turns up nothing. I haven't done any additional steps other than what was specified in the p3d modeling guide: ... tools.html.

My question is whether there are additional steps required to have a scenery model created in 3ds max to appear in the sim director catalog (e.g. adding the placement .BGL file to some scenery directory hiding somewhere). From the documentation whether additional steps are necessary doesn't seem clear to me. I would appreciate any clarification or help on this issue.

If its helpful, here is the placement .xml for my cube:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>
<FSData version="9.0" xmlns:xsi='' xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation="bglcomp.xsd">
<SceneryObject lat="N47 25.89" lon="W122 18.43" alt="0" pitch="0" bank="0" heading="0" altitudeIsAgl="TRUE" imageComplexity="VERY_SPARSE">
<LibraryObject name="{0cf05264-ceac-4dc9-aae7-e508d67524b7}" scale="1.0" />
<ModelData sourceFile="..\model\chch.MDL" />

All the model files, textures, placement etc. all sit in the cube addon folder which resides in my p3d add-ons directory.

You need to create a model-library first.
See this: ... 8&t=129639
The tool you can find here:
