We're doing some work with clouds and evaluating Prepar3D for these purposes. We're wondering a few things:

How are clouds modeled/drawn to screen? Do they use billboarded texture/particles? Has there been any changes from FS 2004?

Is it possible to put a cloud and get their bounding boxes?

Do they come in different sizes / types or is it one size fits all?

The SDK explains how clouds are developed and used within the application. Check out the SDK documents under the Support item (in the menu bar above in this web site). Go to the Environment Kit, Modeling SDK, Using Modeling Tools and select The Cloud Tool in the Table of Contents. Hope this helps.
