Why is this scenery this way?

Postby unc1rlm » Fri Jul 31, 2020 6:16 pm

This is the default scenery for P3dv5 for KINT.. Look at the area just right of the end of the runway. Falls off not only here but everywhere outside the airport proper. Pic "Dropsy 1" is P3DV4.5HF3 and "Dropsy2" pic is from p3dv5.

p3dv5 is a totally new install.... Thanks for any help explaining this. I do not have Orbx or FSAD installed..

Thank you and maybe somebody can answer about the BGL Scan tool i asked about a few days ago.

BobM.

The reason is because in P3D the airport is flat, and the surrounding terrain is not. In real life this airport is probably sloped and so there are elements which should be lower to the terrain but the default airport in P3D here is not sloped.

In previous versions of P3D there was artificial flattening , a fake DEM added to the edge of EVERY airport that sat on a DEM of a resolution higher than 90m to give the illusion of a seamless edge. In my opinion most of the time this is less accurate than drawing a good 'airport background' that's flat.

I'll look at KINT and see if there's anything we can do to make it less apparent.

Can you link your bgl question?
