PREPAR3D V5 Academic, hanging after building Database

Postby V-ARS » Sun Jun 28, 2020 7:45 pm

Hello to the Members and Support Team,

I really need your help to be able to start.
I installed the new, PREPAR3D V5 Academic, licensed software.

The installation were fullfiled successfully.
No additional add-ons were installed.

Attempting to start as Administrator, or as normal user, the software
started, and finished only this two steps:
- generating scenery file indexes ...,
- building Database from new sceneries ....,
but after this the PREPAR3D remain hanging and don't launch the application!

I don't find an adequate case or post in the forum, so I followed carefully all points of the document:
"General Debugging Steps / How to Post Issue Reports", without to be able to solve the problem.

If your nVidia Quadro Pro only has 1 GB of VRAM, then that is your issue. P3D v. 5 needs a video card with at least 4 GB of VRAM.

You will find the system requirements here:

System: i7-7700K @ 4.66 GHz, ASUS Z170-A motherboard, 16 GB 3200 MHz DDR4 RAM, nVidia GTX 960 w/ 4 GB DDR5 VRAM, Windows 10 Home.

All views and opinions expressed here are entirely my own. I am not a Lockheed-Martin employee.

Hello Martyson,
Hello Jorgen,

thank you very much for your prompt replies and helpful ideas, to work on my problem!

1. I will check out again, following the advices from Martyson.

2. In case of no success, will be obvious to recognize the advice from Jorgen, what it seems to be crucial in my case, that the min. Ram of 1GB, in the Graphic card, cause the throubles.
In this case, I will go on the page of refund procedure, and will come back later, with a new order of the professional version, for an adequatetely equiped PC.
In meantime I will reinstall my own licensed old P3D V2 PRO, what is worked well before, on my current (old) PC.

3. I will do parallely the planing, to invest and achieve a completely new PC/Workstation, accordding to the current relevant requirements.

Again, thank you very much, wishing all of you only the best!

My best of regards,
V-ARS
