P3DV5.3 - Great!

Post by CoastalDriver »

5.3 Good work! No issues with installation, no breakages of any previous addons all functioning. Great performance and stable. VRAM down and FPS solid.

Proof of concept - old era model, new visuals EA and True Sky and real time weather. There you go!

Looks great, thx for screenshot!

… I’m already excited by ORBX beefed up P3Dv4, and planning to get P3Dv5 as soon as I’ll be able to obtain at least the minimum required video card.

Beware that for v. 5.3 you should get a card beyond the minimum required.

Mine is at the minimum, and it is severely underpowered.

Thanksfor advice, well, depends what I’ll be able to get. To buy any decent card is a is a problem these days. Right now I see Gigabyte Rtx3060 12GB ddr6 available today in my area for instant delivery, for around $1k, that’s the cheapest I can get, and may not be available tomorrow. There is nothing under it. No gtx1660’s or such which a planned to buy a year ago already, nothing..

I wondered if I should update my sim PC. With windows 11 and P3D 5.3 and would a updated CPU and motherboard be worth it
Intel Core i7-7700K Kaby Lake Quad Core 4.2Ghz (overclocked to 4.5Ghz)
MSI Z270 Gaming M7 Motherboard
I have a 1080 TI over clocked

Over all the performance is good but I cannot move to Windows 11 with what I have

You can run v. 5.3 on what you have, I can do it on my system. But the performance leaves something to be desired.

It will be quite a while before I make the move to Win 11, not worth it (for me).

Thanks Jorgen, that was very helpful. Maybe waiting on Windows 11 is a good thing

I am actually thinking of:

1. New motherboard (current one does not work too well with the ASUS Suite for overclocking), and

2. A nVidia 3070 TI.

LOL! Sometimes and I really mean sometimes, it's easier to beg for forgiveness than ask for permission.
