Re: V5 VR Patch

Beau, We know you and your family have other things to do than work on the VR issue - so we all really thank you for your dedication. We have been looking forward to v5 and see a lot of promise for it. Thanks again for the hard work. A lot of us are cooped up inside and are glad we have flight simul...

Re: V5 VR Patch

As far as VR testing that can really help the Devs, we must all start (and then later add higher setting values ) with graphics settings that produce about 100fps or better on a single HD (1920x1080) monitor. This gives the CPU/GPU a chance to provide pretty smooth imagery for a VR HMD that does fra...

Re: V5 VR Patch

Beau, First off - thanks much for working out VR issues so fast!!! Great to get a chance to try it out. As I see it (no pun intended ), there are at least two basic head track - jitter/?/? - problems. The one that I think you fixed (even for my testing on the Reverb ) was the left and right eye bein...

Re: fpsVR data for P3Dv5 VR issues

Beau, A quick test for this issue of proper yaw VR eyepoint motion is to simply wiggle your head about 5 degrees left and right at 2 to 4 times per second and make sure that the aircraft cockpit windshield frame behaves properly - it should be stable to your eyes - just as it is when you simply swiv...

Re: fpsVR data for P3Dv5 VR issues

Beau, Looks like you are on the trail of the problem. Just one thing though is that it isn't just that the two images - left and right eye being perhaps one frame away from a matched set, but the left eye image can be maybe 5 to 10 degrees off of where it should be when turning the head at maybe 10 ...

fpsVR data for P3Dv5 VR issues

Here is a link to 3 JPG screenshots of P3Dv5 showing the application "fpsVR" results of various combinations of VR performance on my HP Reverb HMD. The various cominations have to do with whether any SteamVR reprojection was used to generate every other visual frame so that even though the HMD requi...

Re: P3Dv5 - flickering issue VR Mode

Here are the results of my v5 VR testing. Yes, I am having the jittery, lagging left eye issue at times. I have reduced it considerably by using SteamVR reprojection set to motionvector and with the in-game frame limit set to 45 (someone else likes 40) since that is half of the 90fps screen rate for...

Re: Can't get SimDirector to start from P3D and other issues

All functions that I was concerned about with SimDirector seem to be OK now that I have eliminated the old Megascenery SoCal from the scenery list - there must be some BGLs that cause trouble.

Carry on

Re: Can't get SimDirector to start from P3D and other issues

@aeronauta (Jorge), Thanks for the reply. So I tried turning off various sceneries as you suggested and found that the old (10 years or more??) MegaScenery Socal (Southern California) is my problem. When I disable it, I get the catalog to load OK. I wish Simdirector let me exclude the catalog of obj...

Can't get SimDirector to start from P3D and other issues

If I start with Prepar3Dv4.4 default scenario at Norfolk, finish loading, and then try to select Tools->SimDirector, it begins loading terrain but never gets to the execution of the tool itself. If I start just SimDirector, it comes up fine - except that the Loading Catalog "wait" dot-circle keeps g...

Can control HMD - Recalibrate Origin with button

Have tried both a button on my XBox controller and one on my joystick but I can't seem to get connected to HMD- Recalibrate Origin. This is with Prepar3Dv4.3

Re: Display Settings Using VR

@OP, Sounds like you might have some system issues - maybe you could try underclocking the CPU or GPU. Oculus Tray Tool is indeed asking your graphics card to render 30% or so more pixels so it can later downsample to the Oculus Rift display resolution. This also might be the reason for the crazy li...

Re: Display Settings Using VR

Please start by telling us as much as possible about your PC - which CPU and at what Ghz, how much RAM at what speed, which video card and what driver version, what OS and build level, which VR HMD and what version of its drivers, and what version of Prepar3D are you running. Are you using Oculus Tr...

Re: VR in Versions 4.2 and 4.3

When you check the version of your Oculus Runtimes (Settings->General at the bottom) do you see 1.29.xxx ??

Also, are other VR games working fine?

Re: Missing virtual reality menu

What other Oculus VR apps are working fine? Any other flight simulations? Make sure VR is working in general before starting P3D.
