I'm getting the exact same issue. Load into Prepar3D v5.1, any aircraft, and within a few seconds I get the device hung error.

Same here for me, just starts up and runs as a process, no icon on the taskbar at all, but it's still running.

I'm getting the exact same problem using Prepar3d v4. During the day FPS are fine, when at night, there is a huge drop.

Remove addons... I've got lots of addons installed. If I'm going to do that I might as well re-install Windows.

I've re-ran the client installer and that's not fixed it. I don't want to really be uninstalling anything as that'll cause my addons not to work won't it?

I've just done what you suggested and it still doesn't work.

So I've been using flight sim absolutely fine with no trouble at all. All of a sudden, I come to open it tonight. I click on the icon on my desktop and up pops the P3D splash screen, after the splash screen I should be getting the scenario screen in which I can select what airport I load up at etc b...

I'm getting the exact same issue, P3D was working fine. I click the icon to launch P3D and then it loads the splash screen and then the splash screen disappears but it's still running as a process on task manager. Can anyone help?

UPDATE: Issue now solved. You need to located your scenery.cfg file and go down the list and check your path is set to the correct addon. I noticed that my FSRealTime path wasn't set. That's what was causing the issue.
