To follow up, in the meantime I completed 6 flights without a single issue. I used the most recent version (hotfix 2), the newest Nvidia drivers and with high settings.

You are kinda right, but its hard to reduce settings that worked 100% fine in pre 3.4 versions. Als there seem to be owners of the newer 1070 amd 1080 having the exact same problem.

I am sure its not active sky, nor any other weather sim. I am pretty sure it has to be something with unoptimized gpu driving from p3d. The more strain you put on the gpu, the higher the chance it will crash with the OP error. Weather engines are putting more strain on the gpu. So is hardware tessel...

For testing purpose I just downgraded to v3.2, and guess what: problem gone. I'm going to test v3.3 now because the FPS in 3.2 where quite lower for me than in 3.4, I will keep you posted.

I too have this since a while. Before the recent hotfix (2) P3D started crashing now and then. Since hotfix 2 the same is happening but now its showing the: Nvidia drivers stopped, error. I reduced the amount of times it happens by disabling hardware tesselation, but sometimes p3d still crashes.

I have kind of the same. But I only have the black screen when I select the option to disable the driver. When I click Cancel I get a. NET error and crash. P3d stopped doing this when I lowered my gpu settings/disabled tesselation. My guess is that something happened in the pre-hotfix 2 version that...

What happens when you click Cancel?

I have the same issue. Happens during 70% of my flights. Does the game crash with a.net error for you guys as well when clicking cancel?
