Re: Beach wave effect in 4.5

Never mind, it just takes a few minutes to kick in.

Beach wave effect in 4.5

I have P3d 4.5.12.30293. It appears that beach wave effects are disabled. Is that true in general or do I have a settings problem?

Re: Water flattens islands

I am using SBuilderX 3.15 which as far as I can tell is the latest version. I do not see a QMID option for vector polygons either on the menu when I right click the polygon or when I select properties from that menu. Any suggestions?

Water flattens islands

I am on P3D4.5 although this problem is in previous versions as well. It appears that a flatten flattens the area around it, not just the area in the polygon. This makes it difficult to do islands with steep sides. The flatten in the water polygon flattens the island. Has anyone come up with a way o...

Water vs land elevation

Since bathymetry is now supported how does one independently define water elevation and land elevation? Obviously a lake can have an elevation different from sea level and different depths. Also is there some way of displaying the current land type for all land elevations greater than the water leve...

RequestDataOnSimObject and ground elevation

It appears a SimConnect_RequestDataOnSimObject on an AI aircraft in landing mode uses the destination field elevation for ground elevation and in use in calculating AGL, not the elevation immediately beneath the aircraft. I am not sure if this is by intent or a bug. It appears this will force me to ...

Re: VOR Rename

Does EZNavs edit the LM NVXxxx file containing it? I can easily create a VOR at the same location with the new ID using BGLCOMP but it gets ignored and I still get the old Morse code ID. Was looking for a way of not correcting the LM supplied NVXxxx.bgl file.

VOR Rename

What is the correct way to create a BGLCOMP file to handle a VOR which is at the same location and frequency but has had its ID (Morse code identifier) changed? I would like to have it have the correct ID.

Prepar3d 4.4 and V

I have been using V to display checklists, flight plans, and approach plates in virtual reality using Oculus Rift on P3d 4.3. I just upgraded to 4.4 and V causes it to immediately crash when I inject it. Has anyone got V to work on 4.4 or alternatively have another means of displaying these items in...

Re: Avatar control

I figured out how to find the Avatar object ID, do a SimConnect_RequestDataOnSimObjectType with a short radius and SIMCONNECT_SIMOBJECT_TYPE_ALL with a data definition containing CATEGORY and look for a category of Avatar.

I still need to know how to do walk, turn left, turn right.

Avatar control

I am looking at controlling the Avatar from an external SimConnect client (i.e. an exe). I want to be able to position it (lat, lon) and do control functions (walk, turn left, turn right). For the former if I use plane lat/lon that controls the plane. I suspect I need an object ID for the Avatar and...

Cannot get rid of taxiway sign

I am working on scenery for Avalon Airport (YMAV). I am trying to get rid of the runway 18 taxiway sign which is in the P3D APX86450.bgl file. I have tried excludes of both Taxiway Signs and exclude alls including a big exclude all around it and it is still there. My scenery is the first in the scen...

Approach control boundaries

Has anyone come up with a way of making the approach control boundaries larger around a major airport other than by creating dummy airports some distance way specifying the same approach control name and frequency?

Crosswind runway

In an airport with a control tower with 2 runways at right angles (one long, one shorter but long enough for the aircraft) both with ILSes, P3d picks the longer runway. Is there some way of getting it to use the shorter runway if the winds are strongly down the shorter runway and significantly cross...

Better Approach description requst

I have added the approaches for runway YFRT. There are RNAV Z Rwy 18 and RNAV Z Rwy 27 approaches. Due to the Zulu designation if I try to request the approach from ATC both of them just show as RNAV Z on the radio menu. The radio menu needs to show the full designation of the approach.
