Are you running unlimited fps?

If so try locked at 30 or 60 or whatever you prefer and see if GPU usage drops in half. On unlimited on my system my GPU is always 96-99%, but once I locked frames at 60 it drops to 40-60%.

I had the same issue with the PMDG 777 and 737NGC this weekend. Try flying a flight but DO NOT open the Captains PFD. If you do you are guaranteed some form of CTD wihtin the 3-6 hour mark of the flight if not sooner. My CTD usually have no explanation in APPCRASHVIEW. Its as if a CTD never occured ...
