Just to the right of the nose

Just above the nose

I do not have a trained eye for what you are trying to show as a problem here.

What do you see during normal flight inside the cockpit?

Looks completely normal.

You aren't factoring in the angle of the sun, the altitude of the aircraft, or the time of day. You don't see tree shadows from three miles up during most daylight hours.

Probably because you haven't considered slant range and the impact on the generation of the 3d autogen objects. No object = no shadow.

I still see nothing wrong at all.

I do not see it.

But, video cards and software control what you do see.

Clearly someone who has never seen cloud shadows from a real aircraft.

These are real, and exactly like you see 'on the wing'.

Suggest take a one hour flight in a light aircraft and see it for yourself. It could save us hours.

I share the OPs problem here and know exactly what he's talking about.

Happening to me too. Have taken this video that quite clearly shows the issue

My cloud doesnt dissapear like fiftysix but there is a square masking that if you can possition right masks over the shadow.

Simon, if you only you knew but im not going to get into a slating match!

In the first image the red bos is showing the corner that interfears with the shadows, you can see cklearly that the cloud shadow has a straight edge running right to left, then down then its a curvy edge going right.

In the second again, this is the corner going from right to left, to just above the cockpit then goes down behind the F-22. You can see the rest of the shadow under the intakes of the F-22, the cloud shadow should be something like a circle/oval but this is missing the bottom right quarter.

Just a quick look at cloud shadows at KDTW using P3D version 2.3.

Looks OK.

Ok here are two shows external view, a before and after moving the viewpoint up. The cloud on the right hand side just off the nose is large and then disappears in the second shot. In Sim it shows up really better than the images capture it. Im currently trying to get a video of this also
