[RESOLVED] VR object shows through ground

Postby srm » Sun May 13, 2018 2:16 pm

Radio towers, chimneys, and other objects have their below ground portions showing in VR. When I switch to non-vr its fine. Can this be fixed please.Image

tried to post image from photos.google.com but it doesn't seem to work.

Hello,

It's hard to see the differences in these screenshots. Are you seeing this in default content? Also can you take screenshots in the exact same location in VR and non VR for a better comparison?

That was a stock antenna array. It was VR/nonVR with still image. The line I drew in the images points to the base (ground level) of the antenna. If you look closely, you can see the VR is longer. The longer part is below ground level.

What LLA were these screenshots at? Also can you repost comparison shots at the same LLA and angle towards these objects? It's hard to tell if the terrain was not fully loaded yet in the VR screenshot.

I was flying at the time and paused the sim.
Took a screenshot, turned off vr and took another screen shot.
I used Photoshop to crop the pictures to make them easier to compare.
I see this effect everywhere there's a radio tower, smoke stack and with just about anything that is partly below ground.
Even in my own scenery where I put posts below ground to hide them in case I needed them in the future.

It's a reoccurring bug all over the USA.
Maybe outside the USA but I haven't been there yet.
But it has happened in WA, OR, CA, Iowa, NV, ND, MI, MO, NY, Maine, and more.

Hello,

Can you please provide the Latitude, Longitude, and Altitude of the area in your screenshots? We would like to reproduce this issue in house.

You can see this information on the Map screen.

Thanks,

Go to KKLS. There are a couple of radio towers and there are smoke stacks near the river. All show the symptoms.

Hello,

Can you specify which runway?

Take off from R12 and look left. THere's a tower. Watch the base. It seems to slide but really isn't moving.
What you see it the underground portion moving around the pivot point which is the "at ground level" portion of the tower.

Any progress? Have you seen the affect? Can it be fixed?

FYI: fixed....
Seems I didn't install 4.2 right, so I did a fresh install.
Now all is great.
