I thought I read a post somewhere that the FLOLS was in the original P3D product release ... is that true .. do you happen to know?
I cannot confirm/deny that FLOLS was available v1.x. I started w/ v2.0. However, IMHO, even if true the performance and visual enhancements present in v2.x are worth not going back just to get the meatball to work.

So, I don't want to jump to conclusions, but based on 1) the blog post re: P3D 2.2 fixes/enhancements and various posts from the beta test team, I'm guessing were at still another patch level without working carrier FLOLS. How disappointing from a 'professional'/'training' application that cost some people US$199 or more.

Any one with a REAL need to train for Carrier Ops, and can afford an Aircraft Carrier, probably won't mind spending $199 on a piece of software!!!
And can probably afford to pay for someone to fix this problem for them, leaving the P3D team to work on other more generic priorities.

I think Steve P. should create a DX11 Fixer... hehe
Note: The Aerosoft airport lights did NOT work when I fisrt got the DX10 Scenery Fixer for FSX, but they are now fixed in the latest release, also the carrier FLOLS lights work great with the DX10 Fixer in FSX.
It would be great if the LM's could fix the carrier FLOS lights and make the carrier wake flicker-free

+1
From reading other posts, I think maybe it has to do with lights being attached to objects (maybe only in a certain way or under specific circumstances?). IIRC, based on other posts here, something like this also affects both user objects and AI objects under the right conditions.

PS
I've sent an email to Javier asking him if he is planning on maintaining the Nimitz/Eisenhower models and/or if he is willing to release his source to the community, but I haven't heard back yet.
