And we are with you ... MSFS2020 is a running horse ... while LM Prepar3D is our thoroughbred.

Glad to hear that, because my perception is that third party developers are starting to forget P3D.

I have subscribed to MFS, and, no way will I buy it, in its current state. There have been 2 patches so far since release, regretfully 5 steps forward, 6 steps back...probably a bit harsh...say 4.5 steps back. Come on LM, don't leave your loyal customers behind......I have invested heavily in add ons for both V4 and V5 and it will have to be a very good product for me to jump ship....so far MFS fails in that area...but what for the future?

That's a 'felt' perception - for example: OrbX has updated 3 smaller airfields in US to be compatible for P3Dv5 without making great fuzz about it. It must be clear, that add-ons for a simulator with a hi-res-photo-scenery for most of the planet, must be announced 'loudly, offering only 'tiny' airport areas - no sense in continent-wide landclass-add-ons. But I'm sure that at latest, when people start their flights in wintery or autumnal season, they will recognize, that only 'the old' sims offer these seasons. Let the 3rd-party-developers sound out their MSFS-add-ons. They will return to P3D-add-ons sooner or later.
For me it was the same feeling, when OrbX added X-Plane and FS2 - addons to their shop. Meanwhile the ratio between the various sims is balanced.

Hi James,

I'm looking for motivation to go ahead with P3DV5. Can you tell me why you believe DX12 has made P3D a winner.

Thanks,

Ed

Ed,

I don't care too much about whether something uses DX11 or DX12.

But, when MSFS2020 has

1. No military aircraft, and

2. An airliner handles like a Cessna 172

then MSFS2020 sorta loses, you know?

Hi Jorgen,

I agree with you concerning your points on MSFS2020. At this time I'm not interested in that platform as I only use the 738 with Prosim avionics. I am pretty happy with P3D 4.5H3, stable as a rock, however heavy sceneries like FlyTampa Toronto will still bog me down with stutters and some minor freezes. (even with the new cpu and mb)

In late September my Gigabyte G6 failed so recently I have upgraded to an i9 10850k (from a 6700k@4.8) and a mid range Asus z490 mb. So with that in mind I have heard rumors that P3D5 can take advantage of the extra cores and threads so hence my renewed interest in DX12 and P3D5. My GPU is an RTX2070.

Thanks for your input,

Ed

Ed,

V. 4 can also take advantage of the extra cores, try this one out:

Personally, I find this works best with hyperthreading turned off.
