sad and disappointed by the p3dv4,2

Post by JuanBari »

Good morning, late nights all
I come to discuss my problem that I have been doing for a long time with p3d in version 4.
about 6 months ago I acquired the p3dv4 because it came from a long time in other simulators, with the hope of having a simulator that works well, because my pc is armed based on the specifications given on the page. once I installed the simulator the problems began, bad performance at all times, all this having several addons installed from the envedir, orbx, asn, asca etc.
analyzing a bit the first thing that comes to mind is to reduce the graphics to the lowest maintaining an acceptable quality, but there is no case, the simulator continues to work in the same way.
Summing up a bit, I feel angry and sad, because in addition to using it as a hobby I also use it to practice because I am doing a private pilot career in Argentina, and due to the bad situation we have today with the price of the dollar, is the best alternative to practice,
today I decided to completely desist the simulator and wait for the new update to come out, with the hope that with the work in the new version I can achieve the performance I want

Juan,

I have a similar setup as yours. In over 500 hours flying PMDG stuff, it has been flawless except for a couple of self induced problems.

My operating system is Win10-64. I did not see which operating system you are using.

With no addons, only the base v4.2 how does it perform?

I will also state that no one, and I mean no one can help you because you actually haven't provided any description of what the problem(s) is/are.

It's obviously a problem with your system. I'm running 4.2 on a laptop. It has 16GB of RAM. It only has a 2.8GHz processor (no overclocking) which tends to overheat and slows down, and an old nVidia Quadro series video card. Safe to say I'm below the minimum specs. I can normally maintain 20 FPS at most payware airports, in the PMDG NGX, and when scenery is less severe I can get a lot more. Ok, my sliders are very much on the left hand side, but I think I'm getting a lot more out of my system than I should be expecting.

My point is, it's unfair to put the blame on LM, when you clearly don't know what's causing the problem.
Best Regards,

Neal McCullough.

Well, this is pretty much impossible.

I have pretty much the same system specs as you have.

Im running a 7700k on standard core freq even with Turbo deactivated.
On a nvidia 1070 MSI Aero ITX OC, running also on core freq
I have 16 GB Ballistrix sports ram
Running on an asus prime z270k
Win 10

Basically there are not much times when the sim goes below 30 fpsIf i have below that then its an airport like KSFO, in a regional orbx area with 200 utlive planes loaded in a overcast situation. And still then its around 28-30 fps. And this is with settings near to the right side for many of the settings. Terrain is around 80% maxed, Autogen around 60%, shadows low but maxed range, shadows activated everywhere, Rex skyforce on 2k hd textures on maxed settings, activesky, UTlive on 100% airline and 20% GA setting, most orbx regional areas, around 100 airports installed, visuals tweaked by pta and reshade with postprocessing, sitting in a plane like pmdg 747 the fps are usually around 30-40 in the vc and 50-70 fps outsideview.

There are dozens of things i could reduce everywhere, in every single app i added, be it activesky, rex, utlive, orbx airport configs, orbx terrain configs and whatnot if i ever come to a point where it gets slower.

So im really really not sure what you mean with "sad and disappointed".

That beieng said, you didnt tell us about what problem you are talking. In games/sims and specially Prepar3D are 2 different kinds of "low performance". Is it really your fps that are low (if yes, how low?) or doy ou feel that you have overall stuttering even the fps show over 30?'

The last thing is related to refresh rate and this seems to a be a real thing in P3D. You have to make sure you sync your monitor to the exact same freq as your running the game in. And this is probably the biggest part to make a fluid sim. At least if you have a Monitor with fixed refresh rate.

A good post about this problem ive seen a while ago here

Apparently I'm the only one with problems, to get me a doubt, I could pass photos of their settings, and if they know of any configuration of the PC that may affect the simulator,
I currently have win10 64 bts

You also need to actually explain what the problem is.

The problem is that I have acceptable fps with the simulator completely empty, but when a single point upload any type of configuration the fps go down to 25, without putting any aircraft, with the f22 by default, not to mention when I want to use pmdg, fairing etc, has moments that touch 40 fps, but the vast majority of times low of 25 fps, without any addons, with addons is another story is impossible to fly

Ah... it's about frame rate.

The sim is capable of decent frame rates, but not 75fps (to match your monitor). Where a great deal of displays are coming out with 30hz refresh rates, your LG appears to go the opposite direction... by a lot. Even 60hz is far, far more common than 75hz for a refresh rate.

For the sheer range, scope and complexity of this simulation's rendered world, 75fps is probably not going to happen. Even a target of 60fps is going to be difficult with higher settings. I have a 4k display and a 1070 graphics card and I see 60fps sitting in the F22 at KSEA with the default graphics settings.

If you are not seeing the same or better FPS with the same aircraft, at the same airport with the default settings (it's a selected in the Graphics options)... then there is something wrong with your system and it may be shader configurations. If you are, then it's time to determine what your system can and can not handle by adjusting each graphic setting up until things go down.

What Ed said.... also, ignore frame rate. The important metric is that the animation is fluid and that can be achieved with amazingly low frame rates. Frame rates might matter in a shooter game but there are many other more important factors in flight simulation. Same with monitor, the 75 Hz display in my humble opinion is a marketing gimmick aimed at gamers where in fact I prefer my configuration that is a 4K display with a refresh rate of 30 Hz. Note that refresh rate and frame rate are not the same thing... don't even have the same units.

Its quite simple, run P3D Vanilla, meaning no add ons. How does it perform? 9/10 times its user error.
Windows 11 x64 on a 4TB SSD | AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3960X | TRX40 AORUS Master | 128GB DDR4 3600MHz | 1250W PSU | 2x EVGA RTX 3090 | P3D v5 and MSFS2020 on a 4TB SSD | Custom Corsair Hydro Cooling

MV_WX.dll is the REX-Milviz weather radar gauge. That version (1.40.0.40) is the most recent version of the gauge. You may have a conflict between that gauge and some other add-on. Make sure that all your add-ons are up to date. You should go to the radar gauge subforum on the REX official support forum:

https://www.realenvironmentxtreme.com/f ... age-radar/

and create a thread about your problem. They will direct you as to how to create a crash log that REX support staff can use to understand your problem.
