Northern Territory of Australia Imagery based scenery

Post by NormanLGibson »

I have completed my project for the Northern Territory of Australia in 15m satellite based imagery. The imagery is true color and well represents the colors of this very diverse and sparsely populated land that is twice the size of Texas. The scenery is perfect for medium to high altitude en-route flights in commercial and private aircraft.

The aircraft are PMDG with repaint by Giulio Catena for FS Repaints Australia.

The following video demonstrates the use of lower imagery en-route scenery when used in conjunction with higher detailed departure and arrival points. During take-off and landing attention should be concentrated in the cocpit whilst during cruise the real world scenery adds to the realism. This type of scenery is also computer friendly by taking up less HD space and PC "hosepower". In the video the detailed points are RAAF Darwin and RAAF Tindal both produced by Anthony Lynch http://www.antsairplanes.com/scenery.html The target range is within the Delamere Warfare Range in the Northern Territory and it is within this range, one of the largest in the world , that Exercise Pitch Black is undertaken between the RAAF and various other airforces including the USAF and USN.

I have treated the shallow coastal water from the imagery as "land" as it adds to the realism in my opinion and blended it with sim water just off the coast.

Here are a few screenshots showing the water in Prepar3d v4.

Finally released. See here http://www.gibsonsceneries.com/

The scenery fits in nicely with some payware and freeware airports. You can takeoff and climb from those airports and fly over "real" terrain ranging from red desert to tropical coastal areas. The scenery is best suited for medium to high altitudes such as regional airlines, military flights and higher flying private flights.
