Content errors with Client only update

Postby BuddyDog » Sat Dec 01, 2018 2:42 pm

Last week, I did a fresh install of full 4.3 on a new SSD. Seemed to be running well and ORBX, FSDT & Flightbeam sceneries added. I installed the new 4.4 client only, and seem to have numerous content errors popping, along with KERNELBASE error when 4.4 shuts down.

So, uninstall the whole shebang and start from scratch again?

You may need to check with your add-on providers. Some add-ons are versoion-specific and/or have installers which modified files included in the Prepar3D client installer. You may also want to grab the updated content installer as well to get the most out of the new PBR support. This thread may be helpful:

Thank you for the prompt response, Mr. Hollis.

I think for me it might be best to start from scratch. When I installed the new SSD (D drive), I put P3D on the new drive, but see the ORBX FTX Global files are still on the old drive (C drive), so I think I will need to delete them, reinstall P3D fully and reinstall the ORBX stuff.

If you want to place the ORBX files on a separate drive, you can use the mklink statement.
You dont need to delete them.
Create a directory ORBX in the root of P3D44 (sample F-drive]
Open CMD as adminstrator
type (and mind the spaces!)
mklink /j “F:\P3D4\ORBX” “C:\P3D4\ORBX”
[ or any other drive/folder]
Identical sample here: https://flightsimeindhoven.com/2012/02/ ... sx-to-ssd/
Run the troubleshooter Migration Trouble shooter in disk where the original files are
Force migration, verify files if needed, etc. ... done
However in Dutch (use google translate) https://flightsimeindhoven.com/2018/04/ ... ree-space/
